Milking the prologue
I decided to start a new game where I do better scavenging Skalitz and I've got quite a bit now I'm about ready to leave, but I need to know do I lose any Grochen I take, do I only keep items and what about stolen items will those go to (although I noticed I can't sell any stolen stuff now, but at some point Bianca would buy some stolen goods not sure why that changed) Mainly just need to know if I should spend all the grochen

No need to spend your hard-earned Groschen, you keep everything.

just stash all you want to keep in the chest in your house (stolen will be fine by the time you come back for it), i think the one that has nails for bianca is persistent. you don't lose money nor loot when leaving prologue. i wouldn't worry about cash too much, easy enough to get later on - via hunting, alchemy or loot (stolen or off dead bodies) just to name a few ways. or you can win some in dice, pocket money but good fun. but in prologue you can milk all merchants' gold and grind a few good levels in this and that. gets pretty boring soon, though. i'd recommend having some armour on you when leaving, or just run very fast and be very lucky. you'll have a decend sword but not much point trying to use it initially. first mission's name is a good hint :)

I kept everything when I did it. I even looted a dress off a ghostly girl in a dream and kept that too. I had suffocated out and killed two Skalitz guards and left in full chain armor with weapons to boot.

You shouldn’t have to worry about it as long as you don’t get caught.
Don't ever store any cumans armor or loot if you do decide to kill them in the chest next to Theresa's house though. I lost all of them. Just saying.

Ok so I should be storing the stolen goods and getting them later instead of walking out with them is that about right? Still trying to understand the crime mechanics, say I have stolen tailor's kits from Skalitz will the Talmberg guards give me trouble? Does wearing stolen items get me in trouble with guards, or just the person that owned the item? At the least I'm just going to launder the slick clothing items I want to wear at the crazy lady (she's crazy because I can loot her items and sell them back to her) I don't want to kill anyone, I don't even seem to get away with knocking people out still end up with a fine (after I load the save) even if i seemed to get away unnoticed.

you cannot carry everything with you so have to store or ditch most stuff anyway. carry what you might need (1 max 2 melee, maybe bow +25-50 arrows, some potions, some long lasting food, repair kits are quite crucial), store rest on horse once you have one (cannot use stolen to store if i remember right, and the stinky one is the best) and/or in chests. so maybe skip heaviest armor at first. quite frankly my maxed out henry wears no heavy stuff as i was going for hunter/warrior/stealthy build, and still can whack a few plated bandits. especially on potions :) "git gud" with horse and you pretty much cannot die anymore. "stolen" depends on value, time passed and distance from where stolen. what gets you in trouble with guards is wearing dirty and/or cheap clothing. they're arsehats, either kiss your backside or treat you like a dirt. oh, and about knocking out - you get better as you get stronger. and you get stronger with "leg day" perk. so get collectin' them herbs in skalitz. takes a while, but if you don't mind grinding gives you good xp, strenght and herbs (to sell or keep, i'd keep). also if you try to knock a guard out and fail, you can surrender, pay and try again. win - get the gold back. but you won't have cash for too many attempts nor schnapps for too many saves. once all the guards are gone, go crazy training pugilism :) also there's no need to feel guilty about skalitz folk, most will be dead soon anyway. so feel free to train sneak on the guy with pitchfork not far from daddy and punch the hell out of these 2 horses near him. and cows. and sheep. not chickens, these break too easy. and i'd suggest leaving any potential dead chickens alone. also that small path by the pallisade is good for training sneak (stealth? knocking out, basically)

Keep everything you have on you until you can escape from Talmberg.

Wear a helmet to make sure the guards don't chase you and ride your horse down to the inn across the bridge.

Get a room (for a day or a few, it doesn't matter) and put everything you have in the chest there besides what you need. It is one of the safe ones that is connected across all Inns and the mill.

This is to avoid having to lose everything if put in a respawning chest or lost to the transition bug.

if you dont mind being encumbered, you will be able to rent a room in an inn and then store all your things there in the next town next to the castle.

Thanks for the replies I decided to get out of Skalitz finally, just decided to take what I can carry, got a lot of herbs, leveled up some stats, I experimented with ripping off some guards armor even beat one in a fist fight but that gets me a bounty each time and I had exhausted most of the money in the area so I just left with some nice laundered clothes and some stolen repair kits, haven't had trouble from guards in Talmberg

The trick is to knock out guards from stealth. To do so, you need to collect the low conspic. clothes off the peasants by knocking them out first. Get that stat as low as possible. Then, you can save scum that until it works in your favor, just don't try while drunk from the saviour schnapps. The trick with knocking out a guard is to get fully behind them (you might need to wait for them to move around a bit) and sit perfectly still a second. If they comment on your crouching, walk away and try again. Remain perfectly still before pressing the button. If you do, you'll have a pretty good chance to knock out the guard.

For me, half of Skalitz is dead before the Cumans even arrive.
