But still, the rattled quest will not start and I cannot get Ota to be my armoursmith without finishing that quest.
Hmm, oh well ... If this was intended then this part of the game is not really Open-ended, right?
Anyway, it's not a big loss if players who already finished a certain story quest would never be able to recruit an Armoursmith for their custom city simply because of their choices.
I would have if I had the option because I always choose all chat options with all npcs even when they're greyed out.
I didn't have the option in my playthrough during the investigation. Probably because I solved the quest in a different way - love Open Ended RPGs :D
Anyway, it's not a big deal. Just a little disappointed on the linear design on this particular quest.
Hoping that this post will serve as warning to new players so they'll know they just can't be doing whatever they want on how to solve this particular quest in their game, if they want to recruit specific NPCs in their DLC game.
It isn't a bug though. It's like the Queen of Sheba's Sword quest: it's possible to make it impossible for you to complete that quest and recruit Fink as your Armoursmith in Pribyslavitz. It's not a bug; it's gameplay. This DLC is like the base game in that it doesn't give you everything you could want, and it has choices with consequences.
it is still not a bug, it is intended that you complete every quest in which a npc is involved before you can recruit him, the quest triggers have not changed, for no quest as far as i can say which makes it very likely that it is intended.
This quest is supposed to make/cover up for his loss of earnings during the main quest so it makes sense that you can not get it in other ways.
it is similar to other recruiteable npcs, if you make the wrong choices in some of their quests you can not recruite them, thats just like it is.
