Automatically Won Talmberg Horse Race

I'm curious if anyone else has had this happen...

So I'm in position, ready to race. Saved game just before noon to avoid crashes. Had to turn off the game, so I figure, no problem.

RL time passes. I get back on the game, load up my save, and I'm ready to race on the grey horse. However, the game starts with all the other riders on the ground, next to their horses. Must be some kind of default position.

The quest fails and I think "Oh, damn!"

but then it boots back up and says "Quest Complete!"

So I walk back to Sir Divsh and he gives me the following dialogue, voice acted and everything:

"Well, you at least have some respect! Nobody else showed up!"

I cast a long look at the riders who have remounted and are walking away. Sir Divsh's eyes must be failing him.

He continues. "Anyway, you don't have to convince me, Henry. There is no one who can prove you wrong. I'll buy my horses from Zora from now on."

So...I guess I win. Can't be a glitch (or at least, not one that hasn't been anticipated) because they had a dialoge option for it and everything.

Anyone else try this? Or, perhaps, encountered a situation where other riders don't arrive?

Again, sorry if this is all old news. I've searched the forums, but didn't see anything.

if you show up before Divish, and the other racers are there you can kill all of the horses off and still get the ending you just stated. you just got lucky

If you didn't win the race, do you still get the prize? Same happened to me in my current playthrough (though the riders didn't dismount, they were all mounted but rode away walking and turned the other way at the base of the hill). I reloaded the save I made just before noon, after I killed a group of Cumans on my way back to Talmberg--worried I wouldn't even make the noon start time! (I use Saviour Schnapps to save.) I wanted the prize, so that's why I reloaded. I should've gone to check, but I wanted my Henry to be the champion of the race and not the only guy who didn't glitch out based on reloading an earlier save.

It wasn't like this before either the Hard Core Mode or the DLC was introduced. The very first time I ran the race, I lost and didn't want to give up, so I save-scummed back to the start of the race. None of the other racers just forgot what they were doing. :D

It'll get fixed and soon we'll be the group of ones with that funny memory.
