Epic Games to Steam
I already have the game on Epic, can I make Steam recognize the files, and keep it?
It would be cool to have it on Steam as well, but without buying it of course.

OP,

Do you mean adding it as a non-Steam game to your Steam client?

No, I mean as the game is on a free weekend I was able to start the download. But I'm not sure if I can keep it.
But there's bit more now:
I must add that I was able to load my saves (the ones I had in my original playthrough), so I'm convinced that there's a chance Steam recognized it as a game I have and does not want me to buy it separately.
Save files are universal, you can load them on any pc copy of the game, I could send you my save files from steam and you could load them on epic, you cannot add the game from epic to steam unless you either buy it or add it as a non-steam game.

I don't see why is that a problem, it worked with other games e.g. For Honor.

am fairly certain you can add any game to steam library, not sure of the specifics however.

You need to buy the game on steam if you already have it on epic and all your save data will transfer. That is the only option (unless you "add a non-steam game", but then it won't be in your steam client). If you want to profit from steam's services, of course you need to give them money.

Yes, you can add games by ubisoft from steam to Uplay if u mean this But no from uplay to steam.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

The question isn't really about that. The question is if you really think Epic is REALLY going to just give you another game on their COMPETITOR. Epic isn't going to give you ♥♥♥♥ on Steam. They want to compete with Steam. They are not going to be user friendly in any way.

To transfer game files from any other platform (Uplay, GoG, Epic Games) to steam that u don't need to download full size game i simply(u need to own the game on Steam): Click install game on steam and i cancel it at beginning only wait the disk space allocating that creates folder in steamapps/common/ of your Steam installation folder then copy from your other platform game files to your Steam game folder and then press install game in Steam launcher it will allocate your game files and verify it and download if something is missing, all done for me at lease! (for this game i needed to download 6gb instead of 52.6gb)
