Go to Captain Bernhard and learn it.
Now srsly, get better at combat and level your skills. You never said what level is Henry in your playthrough.
If you do understand the concept of perfect blocking, ripostes and master strikes, it's a mere question of leveling the relevant skills to make it more viable to land those.
The important thing u have to realise is Henry is bad at everything early on, u will lose a lot of fights until u practise and get your levels up. KCD is not like other games where you can just spam attacks and kill everyone.
Shield rounds i dont like either BUT there is a master strike that finishes them off easily sometimes in one hit. Atleast for me.
When shields are involved, a complete side of the enemy is "unavailable for hits" so its normal that here snowballing the fight is more important.
Stay defensive, only attack when you are confident.
Master Strike the ♥♥♥♥ out of your enemy. If you dont know what a master strike is, go to bernhard.
KC:D doesnt hold your hand in the fighting but its just so rewarding to learn the fighting and put some effort in it. If you master it there is absolutely nothing that can stop you
Once you learn Masterstrike, you can technically just wait for your opponent to attack, and then perform a Masterstrike. It's a rather boring way to run combat, but i'm told it does work.
I dont normally take on the Tournament until i have ALL my weapon skills over 10, since i tend to lean forward in melee combat. This higher level of skill ensures i have enough Warfare, Strength, and Agility to win at Clinches, which definitely improves the feel of combat, although i will sometimes miss at forcing the clinch, and take a few shots myself - but you only need to survive in order to win.
Train up more, and try again. It's good fun.
I usually never use axe / mace. Yet master strike and fast follow up usually works fine.
Sometimes change hit direktion before release the hit gets them too. Its one of the first things Bernard teach you.
I just got my 5th piece of armor yesterday. 🤗
It is not the game which is a piece of ......., it is ..... (fill in the blank).
Git gud.
I was so scared because I have read so often that this fight shall be nearly impossible. I was really disappointed.
