does this have alternate start mod yet?

I remember playing it, but then they had patched it so you couldn't kill that first guy who attacks you with a sword so I got a refund.

I thought maybe I would play it on epic games if they have some mods for alternate starts.

There r saves on Nexus you can download and start later in the game. But if that Cuman turned you down chances are this game aint for you. One of the beauties in this game is guiding Henry from a hopeless lazy blacksmith son to becoming a well geared competent man at arms, which also involves the player learning curve of combat mechanics.

On my first playthru I simply fled Skalitz, I didnt even look back at those guys raping Theresa and then I lied to her, but what else could I do? I was just hopeless and couldnt do anything about it, despite trying 3-4 times to save her ass and failing miserably.

It's not impossible to do.
I was in the same boat as you after failing it so many times I gave up out of frustration. Left it alone for 4 days. Came here to discussions watched youtube videos eventuallu summed up the motivation try again and made it to the next town.
Turn the sound off and just run get to the bottom of the hill press X to whistle for horse that will distract the Cumans with Theresa use X again to jump onto horse and using combination W with shift to gallop steer the horse using left and right arrows on keyboard turn left at the bridge you will get hit by an arrow to the leg it wont kill you.
This is the beginning of the training and mindset how you deal with KCD quests bandits and situations where you need to learn how the game mechanics work. Its designed to stress you until you just loearn to play it.
Very rewarding game which I grew to love so much I really miss it and cant wait for the next DLC or next KCD update so i can continue.

When I went to do it, they had patched it so you couldn't do it like the videos I saw did it.

I don't care about training Henry. I am a warbander and better be able to handle some pansy guard.

Thanks for the tip about the nexus loads. I might do that.

On saving Theresa, you dont have to fight the low lifes, just ride the horse in back of them, they will start to turn around, she gets in the house, you continue on so they dont de-horse you, go right around the wood fence and continue up the road in in the direction you need to go. You will get credit for saving her since she got in the house away from them. You will make the next cut if not wounded. As far as getting away from the chase it requires timing for allowing horse to recover from the the full out run as they catch up and keep shooting you. Someone recommended riding into the stream for a short distance as it messed up their chase, but I didnt try it. Managed to just make it to the castle almost dead so if you keep making the cuts you will make it to the castle. Just read Jaunitta's response. Looks like she had a better and safer idea then mine, lol. Just don't combat them!

I was trying to fight them on foot on my first playthru lol. After 3-4 attempts I thought screw her and ran for it, funny enough I made the escape in one attempt, but the shame of being saved by her, lying to her and bedding her in that playthru is something that haunted me lol.

Anyway, props to the devs for making such amazing game.

I didn't realize that was Theresa on my first playthrough, I just saw a bunch of cumans harrassing someone but just... rode on. I think that actually made for a better experience than saving her since it's a more interestign story, dealing with that shame etc. And having that fuel his desire not to back down from fights in the future.

You don't even have to whistle at the horse. Just run straight to it and jump on his back, then flee. You don't have to whistle at the Cumans either. Get too close and you'll distract them anyway. That's how I always do it (4th playthrough right now): get close, they turn around, run to the horse, get the ♥♥♥♥ away, and you even save Theresa that way, as it gives her time to get inside. Sometimes Henry gets "locked" in combat, but then just jerking the mouse the other way is enough for him to come back to his senses and be able to run to the horse.

Buy the DLC A Woman's Lot and that explains everything what happened to her when you rode off in the Run Quest and what she does after that... You wont fail anything by just doing what we have suggested just deter the Cumans.

Game might not be for you then. The "gimmick" so to speak is that you are TERRIBLE. And i mean that. Good players who have done a second play through will know that henry will hesitate before swinging and move very slowly overall in combat making it very difficult to fight even when you know what you are doing.

This is on purpose becaue the fun of the game is training up henry and feeling amaizing about having gone from a blacksmith's son to a fierce warrior who can single handely take on 15 cumans in plate armor while wearing light armor in hand to hand combat with no stealth.

Or if you don't like the combat, learning the ways of sneaking and bow accuracy which starting off makes it so you cannot keep the bow still and you do not know how to aim. Or learning that difficult lock picking game and pickpocketing and becoming a good thief. Which will lead to lots of jail time if you aren't careful. As that too is hard at the start

Basicly learning how to do things is one of the primary features of the game and if that doesn't interest you, then this game will probably not suite you.

I guess it would cause some shame, then they leave you with the option of lying or admitting you ran when you are telling the story. We all like the game so much it gets kind of personal!

Have no idea what it actually does. Meaning dont know if its an alternate start comparable to skyrims alternate start. Infact I highly doubt its anything like that.
