Transfer save game from GOG version

I will be honest:

I downloaded the GOG version of the game from Good Old Downloads (which has been shut down), spent around 60-70 hours in-game.

Now I want to buy this game before the sale ends, question is: can I transfer the old save game from GOG to steam ? Because if it's not possible, I will buy it on GOG, but I still prefer Steam.

if i am reading this right, i dont think your gog saves will work with the steam version naturally. but it might. upload your save file on the kcd nexus and il give it a try.

usually when a game is sold on different store platforms, their saves only work with the platform they're sold on. if they had the same save format, it could work but it could also be buggy.

Does work.
However it's a bad idea to use old saves in newer versions of the game, can cause bugs, but this has nothing to do with platforms

I forgot to update this.

At the end, I decided to stick with GOG for this game, and started a fresh new game.

I've been updating my GoG game for a year playing with the same save and it's still going well. I am okay with that as long as the transfer from GoG to Steam works, as you claim. :-) Thx
