I repeated the battle with Zoul at least ten times before I succeeded in getting all of the BoB alive and well at their camp the next day. It appears to me that you're only guaranteed they all survive the battle is that once back at the camp they are all able to eat breakfast the next day. Until then it's pins and needles - especially with the Stone.) Never had the issue with Sir Kuno, though.
The reason I suspect the patch had an impact of being able to save all of the BoB is because up until the patch, I was regularly able to save them all with only a failure here or there. After the patch - it was ridiculously difficult to achieve that result.
I think I reloaded the battle with zeul about ten times as well before I finally managed to get them all out unscathed, since they would drop dead from just one or two blows frequently. Too bad it seems to have been in vain that I was so stubborn in wanting them all to survive. This will probably annoy me for awhile but i don't really think it is worth going through that struggle again. Ill just have to live with Kuno dying i suppose. Thanks for your reply :)
