To me people who like cooking are a bit odd. Why bother if you can eat something as is. Maybe Henry is the same kind of person
But you can pretend you've eaten that chicken, cabbage and skin of water together as a soup when clicking them - technically it's the same thing. It's gonna mix in your stomach anyway, you know.
That way it would make it worthwhile and not tedious and unnecessary.
The amount of various food in Kingdom come dont make much sense otherwise and should be addressed -same with time how it stays consumable (does not make sense that carrot or onion last same time as bread..)
And at first place there is so many "auto-filling" pots that player has no reason bother with geting/carrying/eating any inventory food - dont think this make it well too.
It should take time and $$$ to eat from a pot, they should be in private areas, and be subject to a Guard confrontation for violating the...rules.
Course I'm also at the point where I'm going to start farming Guard confrontations to up Speech skill.
When i eat in-game with the seperate pieces of food, i imagine a meal i would like whether its breakfast, lunch, or dinner, if i would like a light or heavy meal, would the taste go well with the food as i know it today, like apple and chicken, i find a combination i would like today as though i was in those times and what was available.
I understand others have different styles of gameplay, just wished to share what i do.
edit: i should add that the devs wanted more in the game but they had to compromise. Like mixing herbs ingredients had to be reduced alot
