Honing it yourself or pay the Blacksmith to sharpen it.
Hmmm someone can correct me on this but i'm fairly certain that the repair kits does not clean the sword.
I use repair kits in combination with the wheel. I get things repaired to the mid-nineties (which gets the blood off swords and axes), and then finish them off with the repair kit.
I'd be deliriously happy if repair kits cleaned off blood, but that seems to be a fix the developers aren't going to make, for whatever reason.
Wasn't it common for anyone serious about swordfighting to carry some wadded cloth to wipe blood off? lol. Swords are actually pretty hard to maintain, they corrode if you look at them wrong, and human blood is quite salty.
