Where the HECK are the rabbits?!?!
Ok. Normally I can’t throw a stick without hitting a rabbit. When I ride my horse off the trails, sometimes I step on a rabbit and kill it by accident. They are EVERYWHERE.

Until now - UNTIL I accepted a mission to hunt a couple rabbits for a fellow Skalitzer who’s down on his luck in Rattay. Now I cannot find a rabbit. After a couple hours of real time romping through woods here and there - no rabbits. The only two I saw were in a field of flowers near Neuhoff. I could barely see them in the fall grass and flowers. So I gave them up to look for some in the woods. And never saw any other rabbits.

Anybody else have this happen? Does the game intend for me to kill two very specific rabbits? I saw roe, and boar, and deer. But no rabbits.

There is no wildlife in this game...my biggest pet peeve.

Beautiful lush green forestry with no ecosystem.

I dont know what Eminem is talking about there is so many rabbits its almost a plague.
Yeah it seems as soon hunting quests involved they kind of disappear most found mid afternoon then. Talmberg forest has tons of them.
Skarlitze quest?
Head into the forest towards Pribyslavitz there are rabbits there.
Anywhere you see deer hunting or boar- rabbits usually in the same area.
Whats the name of your quest?

You can find plenty of rabbits just up from Rattay.
head up the road from the Mill West follow the river round till you see the fishing spot go across there then head left along the river till you see a path going up then just go look around head a little more west to the trees.
Please enjoy this interactive map

I even tried to buy rabbit meat from the huntsman. He doesn’t sell it. It’s like aliens descended and took away all the rabbits in the game world.

I almost went back to Rattay, pulled out my lucky ash bow, and shot the quest giver in the face with a horseradish. I am convinced he knows all the rabbits are gone.

Does it matter what armor I’m wearing? Maybe the little bunnies don’t spawn if your noise level is greater than, say, 52?

I haven't found any problems with armor.
However I had Mutt the dog with me and send him off to hunt hare. :)
Try in the early morning and evening times when in quests

It’s Beggar’s Feast. Yeah, maybe I just need to be sure to be in the woods in the afternoon. Alright, back at it again next time!

North of the Rattay mill, then across the river at the ford, near the fishing spot. Then go to some trees around the afternoon.

Uzhitz butcher sells hare meat.
Good spot to hunt hares is where you were with sir Hans doing the same thing. You won't have much luck near Rattay, except maybe in the woods east of the town, but there it's too thick and rugged to walk and hunt comfortably

Ill give you the best hunting spot ive found so far for efficiency. Go directly West of Rattay from the Millers place along the river. There will eventually be a river crossing just around the first bend. Cross it and follow the trail to the top of the hill. There is a camp up there and some destroyed ruins. Its also the location for the Huntsmans first mission with the bird cages. Ontop of that immediate hill you will find alot of red doe all over the place. IF you want boars then just continue down the other side of the hill to another camp where there is a boar hunting spot.

There are rabbits all over both of these areas.

When hunting make sure you dismount and dont move a whole lot. Just crouch and wait until they come to you. Or move around slowely but do more observation that blinding running lookiung for them. Otherwise you will just scare them all away.

Rabbits are hard to see sometimes so its best to just chill and watch an open area in the forest and wait till your eye catches something move.

For the beggars feast go to the huge forest at the bottom of map near Rattay. Rabbits spawn in the entire area and are plentiful.

i have no statistics to back this up, but anecdotally speaking, it certainly seems the rabbits are spawning far less frequently now that I’ve started a quest that requires hunting rabbits. And they are only spawning at dawn and dusk. It’s a pain. I suck at the bow. I’ll use up 100 arrows by the time I get three rabbits.

If you use the Cuman Vambraces they act like a makeshift crosshair for your bow, very handy

Wow hunting those the rabbits were a pin in the rear. What’s a shocker, is the decreased frequency with which animals spawn after you’ve started a hunting quest. I noticed both the rabbits and boar being more difficult to find while on the Beggar’s Feast quests.
Jaunitta 🌸 Feb 28, 2020 @ 7:13pm
I also had to have preserver potion as it takes a while to get these animals and the meat quality goes below 50% it wont be accepted.
I had to replay this level a few times so dont give up its doable :)

Yeah exactly what happened with me while hunting the rabbits. One time, by the time I hit the third rabbit the first one was rotten.
