Patch 1.5 - Pay Indulgence

So I stopped playing around 1.4.3 and just started again last week. Early on found the boxes to pay indulgences in churches. Sometimes I can't for days and sometimes I can and it's 100 grochen. I always pay it, but mostly to see what it does... and I have no clue.

So started looking it up. Found 12 articles and the offcial patch notes. Every last one said "it washes away my sins" and that's it. Ok....

Then I looked for threads on the offcial forums and steam and no one has mentioned exactly what they do.

Did I miss a lore entry in the codex? Does it exist--perhaps I'm bugged and don't have it.

So what precisly ***game mechanic-wise*** does Pay Indulgences at churches do?

Was searching this topic, sorry to bring up an old post but has anyone figured this out? It can't have anything to do with reputation because I have a 100 reputation in the town and there's a 100 indulgence at the church.

Hmmm, I think 100 groschen is the minimum. So that Henry always has the option to pay for an indulgence, because no one is ever completely free of sin (let him who is without sin among you throw the first stone).

Now try stealing, punching, and murdering your way down to a 20 reputation and see how much the indulgence is. Maybe try it at a town you don't often do business in. . .

Can you pay that indulgence a head of time, you know, for when you know you're going to be really naughty that day? Just curious...

I know you can pay it while being 100 reputation, whether or not it does anything once you do something wrong...no idea.

Have to say tho, partying with the priest and friends opened my eyes to what the church offers.
