First fight with Kunesh
I really hope the rest of the game isn't like this. I read the "tutorial" at the start of the fight to understand how it works, yet none of it seems to work how it says. Using Q to block just results in you getting knee'd in the face. Punching just results in them blocking and you having no stamina. Trying to "grapple" has a 100% chance of Kunesh dodging no matter how close you are.

Wtf.

I literally fought him for 10 minutes since the game apparently gives you god mode for this fight.

The combat is hard at the start, it's get a lot better as your character (and you) "practices".

"Q" definitely does block.

The knee-ing your talking about his him successfully grappling you, stay a bit further back to avoid this.
There is a perk later on ( in the Strength tree I believe) that increases your grappling win chance by 40% (in my experience you win 9/10 times after you can buy and unlock this skill).
Kicking only actually activates during unarmed combat btw, pressing "f" to kick with a weapon out does nothing.
What you can do in combat is determined by how skilled you are.

Henry is not skilled at fistfighting, at least not at first. It's 100% possible to defeat Kunesh, but the encounter is more about teaching you that your opponent might be more skilled than you and that there are always other solutions besides brute force.

combat is hard at the start cause your stamina drops fast...

You'll get used to it soon enough

YEP..the WHOLE beggining of KCD as a Blacksmith Son is a Learning Part.(Your not even a 1% into this game)...the CUTSCENES DO not happen very often as the game progersses..(SPOILER...ya got a REAL hard Horse ride ahead..where HENRY is Barley Able to Stay ON the horse much less ride it...so Pay attention to the Cutscenes please..they APPLY a lot in everything in KCD. BY THE WAY...Henry CAN whistle...push some BUTTONS and find out what happens...)

You WILL get to the POINT in this GAME where its real HARD to stop and take a BREAK..I garratee it...so DONT get frustrated...learn to take "BREAKS" from the start...they HELP you to think different ways to a Problem...instead of BUTTONS SPAMMING as this WONT work in KCD at all.

You aren't necessarily meant to win all rights, especially during the first phase of the game. You might even find that some of the alternatives that open up by loosing work out better for you (*cough* lock picks *cough*).

It's also an object lesson in the fact that you are very much not a badass at the start of the game, and that fighting isn't the only way to get what you need.

I just kept backing up and jabbing him. Ended up kicking his ass.

I beat him on my first try. Granted I barely made it alive. I kinda cheesed him. Keep a considerable distance and your opponent will decide that running towards you is a good decision, there will be a window of opportunity to jab and hook him when he gets close. I did this with the fistfights in Rattay as well.
