Saddle bags

Do they have set in stone capacities? Some saddles have 1, some have up to 4 it seems. Does each bag have a set carrying capacity? Also my horse has 212 capacity and 1 bag, presumably some of that capacity is the horses ability to carry a few bits without a bag?

Also bags come with different saddles, do the saddles affect the bags at all in any way or is it just the saddles themselves that are different?

Yes - the more bags on your saddle, the higher the bonus to the horse's carrying capacity. Pebbles comes with a 1 bag Plain saddle, which adds an epic 20 pounds to his base carry (10 pounds for a plain saddle, then 10 for 1 bag). Each further bag will add a further 10 pounds to the maximum of 4.


The higher quality saddles add 50 pounds of carry for each step of the ladder. So a Hunter Saddle (next step up) has 60 pounds with no bag, 70 pounds with 1 bag etc. Fine saddle starts at 110 pounds. Noble Saddle (the highest) starts at 160 and tops out at 200 pounds with 4 bags.

Literally none of these values are anywhere in the game and when she asks "have you taken a look at the horses and picked one" uhhhh well not really. All the horses at the horse trader are just called 'Horse' and yeah you can view their stats but you have no idea which nag you viewed will correspond to which name on the choice list. It's baffling.

That's not a bug there are certain rows of horses that have names they're outside in one location where there's just like six seven horses in a row those ones you can inspect and you can inspect regular horses too

I might have another look at a later date then. I literally bought the cheapest horse purely to be a mule. I had a rented, or perhaps borrowed might be more accurate, not that he was returned, but alas, temporary horse. He was called horse and I ate him.
