Kill / Knock Out / Talk

So assuming I'm behind someone (yes I have a dagger, yes I have unlocked the skill) I'm given 3 options. Stealth Kill, Knock out or Talk. How do I initate these? Which keys are they called? My use key initiates talking, my 'weapon special' key interacts knock outs, which key initiates stealth kill? I've tried secondary attack key. Nothing works I'm so confused.

Hold F (if you use a gamepad, that's the same key as knock out)

Yeah I've just found a video with someone actually saying hold and still nothing. Did a test and rebound it to another key and it works but holding the original doesn't. Christ I hate my keyboard/mouse. Cheers.

Not sure if related or not but there does seem to be a problem sometimes with certain input keys not responding - the knockout key being one of them.
Lost count of how many times my stealth has been blown at the last minute because the knockout key wouldn't respond.

For ages I thought it was just my old rig giving me input latency but recently someone mentioned a different bug with not being able to switch to the sword while wielding a bow (IE the 1 & 2 keys not responding), which I'd also been putting down to latency.
Reading that others were having similar problems made me think that maybe I'm not experiencing latency at all but rather that sometimes the game just fails to respond to input.

I've also noticed that when galloping on a horse, my 'Steer Right' key works fine but half the time my 'steer left' key doesn't respond at all. That one I'm putting down to my keyboard though, as it doesn't fully support 3 simultaneous inputs for certain key combos.

Can't be sure this is the same problem you're experiencing but it sure seems like it could be.

The keybinding system in this game is by far the worst that I've ever played. I frequently can't put weapons away and have to do unequip and re-equip, often can't pick up arrows unless I put my bow away but other times I can pick them up fine, sometimes knockouts do nothing, every time I sell something in a shop I select all the items to sell, go to basket and have to take out 3-4 random items that game has me down as "buying" when I've not clicked on anything to buy. In inventory every ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ time I click on player or map or horse or statistics I have to close the same ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ "you cannot use bandages right now" before proceeding, thanks! I didn't have any intention of using a bandage anyway but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ harass me with it every time I click on a new tab that's cool! And of course not being able to bind the horse controls...

Yeah, I get the thing with picking up arrows as well. Seems to happen most often when on sloped ground, though that might just be a coincidence.

Also, sometimes the inventory action keys stop working completely & I have to click on the tool tips with the mouse instead. Unlike the other controls however, these don't seem to fix themselves. The only way I've found to fix the inventory thing is to exit to main menu & re-load.

Can't say I have any problems with setting up bindings for new keys - all my controls are of my own custom layout & they all work - just every so often & for no apparent reason, some of them choose to not respond.
