-push forward into an enemy to "clinch" or grapple if fistfight, it's a strength check and you can gain points through perks as well
-backing up when he swings is an option but it might result in a lost grapple if he is already too close, requires timing/experience
The second time I played it, I decided to see how long I could drag the fight out, just for the heck of it.
And to my astonishment, I won.
Losing the fight sets up a more entertaining plot, but the fight can certainly be won. I think I had my initial two points in strength, and kept backing up while I was fighting (which seems to be the secret formula for winning most battles). What you have to watch out for is that you have almost no stamina at this point, so even with an aggressive regimen of callisthenics you still have to pay close attention to your stamina bar.
There are advantages to losing the fight. It forces you to learn stealth and lockpicking, which will come in handy later on even if you don't plan on turning Henry into a burglar.
I may be missing something, but I haven't found stealth tremendously useful. Lockpicking, however, is an important skill to have mastered. I can think of three times I absolutely needed it, though there were alternate plot paths if I was a klutz at lockpicking. And my incarnation of Henry tends to rely on brawn and a lot of herb picking (which amounts to the same thing).
Essentially, as others have mentioned, jab. When a jab lands and he's staggered immediately follow that up with a hook. If he grapples then kick him off. Whenever he comes in at you try to time your jab, then hook again. If you block an attack, follow up with a hook.
Fighting him was the most fun I've had in the game so far. Mostly because that was bug free.
Yes, and Q does work for blocking - even "Perfect Block" once you've had some training.
Have the OPs been waiting on pins and needles almost four years for a better answer, do you think??
Maybe OP hasnt been waiting for this answer but this "dead thread" had the information in it I needed.
this is the thread that google indexed as a first result when searching something like this.
There is no such thing as dead thread. all information is useful, except this and what you contributed
You some wannabe moderator?
You're right... that's why the forum software doesn't delete threads after a certain amount of time. You can search on a given topic and find all manner of information...like searching through public records down at the municipal courthouse. Doesn't mean you have to re-open the graves and dig up the bodies.
