You can obtain one level of training picking in each 5 from Peshek (or a few others), and you can learn to read and obtain a book which gives one level in picking in each 5 levels.
(You must obtain the other levels by practice and successes in skill application, before you can buy a second skill level via training, or read the second skill book, and so on).
The 'decorative' fringe is helpful as a visual guide to the motion of the lock frame when not near a corner, and it is then only a matter of following the circular path of the sweet spot at the appropriate rate. This was easy enough in the original version without the decoration, and is much easier with the visual reference. Mark the place the sweet spot is relative to the nearest 'point', then as this mark shifts, keep the sweet spot moving with it.
As with most other manual skills in game, the difficulty of any particular task goes down with Henry practising. Find a discrete place to practice on a very easy lock if you find the easy ones too hard, and then apply perks as you earn them to suit your preferences.
(Luck of the drunk, and application of alcohol makes all locks attackable quite early on for example and is so overpowered (though with limitations in RP terms) that I never took it... but if I found picking hard I might have considered it).
Really no idea what is wrong in OP's case
Not sure WHY my keyborad is doing THIS!
Also. Just because the ball becomes yellow does not mean it is the best spot. You want a big yellow ball and not just the color.
Guess its a matter of practise and more practise
Going to try using my right hand will let you know what happens for all the left handers out there.
