reduce stuttering
i have been owning this game for almost a year now, and didn't finish it just because the stuttering and overall technical issues still endure in this game despite the many patches. can someone help me figure out how to reduce most of them?, thanks.

My first recommendation is to turn off V-Sync - this can be turned off from the main control/load screen. It's a very serious issue that seems beyond the devs to fix. It caused all the custscenes to drop to about 5 Frames per Second until i turned it off.

Once that's off, i'd suggest lowering shadow and lighting quality, and shortening view distances - keeping object the furthest. And turn off motion blur. This is what i had to do on my performance gaming rig - which shows the devs screwed the pooch on a few things.

Game is very good and stable, story is good, writing is awesome - stick with it - other folks will chime in with more ideas
along the way

I DLed a mod from the nexus for turning the smoke off of cooking cauldrons. I then edited it to turn off the smoke for everything that wasn't in a movie as it's listed in the file. With no smoke I can practically race my horse through towns with very little stuttering and I have a very low end system. I also go into Windows Task manager - processes and give the game a higher priority which has helped as well.

This is on a Win 7 system by the way.

Wow - nice tip - can you post the mod name please. I do run "No Rain" also... i started hating the rain, so, since it's software, i removed it.

Here you go,when I did up the mod I only turn off a few things, you can turn off all the smoke like dominuskevin suggested.

Also if you want even more FPS and better lights on fires at night, you can turn off the shadows and save 40FPS in places.Just open console and add in game or put in user.cfg.

e_ShadowsCastViewDistRatioLights = -0.01
If shadow poping to close on small objects increase to higher number until happy with distance
View distance ratio for shadow maps casting for light sources,Higher number more shadow in distance lower FPS.
Set Postive for Darker shadows at night, but lose some lights.
Set -0.01 to turn on extra lights on like blacksmith fires Gives about 5-40 FPS Boost ,will diminish shadows and turn off shadows all but at night most noticeable around people with torches.

OP are you running a potato? With no system specs can't help. Also, google is your friend, plenty of threads here and elsewhere.

my specs are:
Intel Core, i5-7400, 3GHz
GTX 1070 8gb Vram
DDr4 8 ram
1Terabyte HDD

I think those are the important specs. i also tried searching for a solution for stuttering and texture delay but nothing works.

I wouldn't call it potato but your system is lacking
cpu should be minimum 3.4 ghz
ram at least 16 gig

OP do you use SSD? For me at least having one for OS and other for games works really well. And as above, 3 GHz and 8 RAM is borderline for new games, and KCD is demanding.

I have to admit this was the hardest game I've had to tweak to get working well, it took a lot of looking and trial/error. Even then, when it gave good fps and gfx, I had to dial back certain settings in the big battles or it became a pseudo slide show.

I put up several posts on the issue with solid suggestions, look for those.

i think GHz alone is a poor rating for CPU power, but you happen to be correct in this case. The i5-7400 3.0Ghz surprisingly only has a Passmark rating of 7234, while the recommended "CPU Core i7 3770 3,4 GHz" has a Passmark score of 9515.

But the 8 MB of RAM is also low, and perhaps a bigger issue.

Windows, Discord, Browser and Steam alone use 4.2 MB RAM on my PC. And i go up to about 8.4 MB with game loaded.

Setting video settings lower, and turning off all unnecessary apps (like discord and browser, and perhaps even AV) may help - i had to run my MMO this way for a while on an older PC

My laptop runs this game with varied levels of stutter with FPS locked at 30, medium graphics, and max fan speed. I do agree that it is annoying.

The only thing I can do in terms of better hardware is buy a whole new $1400-1600 RTX laptop or just add another 8GB RAM stick.

System Specs:
Core i7-7700HQ 2.8GHz base, 3.8GHz turbo
GTX 1060Ti 4GB
DDR4 8GB RAM
1TB SSD
Windows 10
