It gets better once Theresa leaves the town area and heads for the war with Cuman's areas.
She goes looking for her brother in the mines. You will find from here its gets quite challenging at times but a challenge is great and its doable.
Grab a walkthrough on youtube and watch it for tips this will get you through it faster I suppose. Game play is only a few hours for this DLC.

A Woman's lot is very moving story and just meant to fill in the gaps up to where Theresa finds Henry...
I found Band of Bastards the best for fighting action and just fun now that I played it. Make sure you save as often as you can so you can go back and redo some of the sections to get the achievements.
but nah, lets run and run and run and you get killed and you run again
I agree 100%. I didn't do A Woman's Lot my first play-through. But on my second, I did and I liked it--it increased my sense of immersion and understanding of the story.
By now... into my third play-through... I know Theresa's story, but I looking to do it again. I think the overall experience would be poorer without it.
Theresai dlc is definitely bad. Nothing but poorly implemented fetch quests.
I stopped mid dlc as well. Lucky I had prior save right before starting that snooze fest and completely abandoned it, lol
Once I skipped it as much as I could using spawn commands. But now I just make sure I have a good save from previous games, where its done.
There are funny bugs to be found. I took a night hawk potion as Teresa during the day with Bianca. The whole scene turned to night. It was great wandering around Skalitz at peace over a simple night.
Another was finding a Skaltz guard alive when looking at the cave entrances. He's a good fighter and well kitted out. He fought Cumans. And I used him for various playouts from a save.
