Monastery Library, what am i missing?

I'm trying to get that book for the restless spirit quest, unfortunately however i've seen to be have hit a huge roadblock, because despite getting the key from the chest that should give me access to the forbidden books section, i can't get access to the library, its locked with a very hard lock that i can't pick because my level isn't high enough yet, in desperation i tried pick pocketing a couple of keys from Brother Porter, and none of those keys seem to be used in any door or chest that i can get to.

I checked a few guides to see what i was missing and it really shouldn't be hard, none of them even mention the door to the library being of any challenge to be accessed, unfortunately however for me at this time its impossible, which is weird, because this game usually gives me plenty of ways of achieving something yet here it seems to me that the only way is to get better lock picking skills.

Sorry to hear it. I did the other quest where I get to be a monk before doing this one and knew my way round the buildings. You can access the library from differnt corridors.

I was confused even more than you lol It said the book was at the alchemist in Rattay and I used the night vision and looked everywhere for it. I finally figured it out get the book first from monastry.

Go up the stairs to top go through the door at the end straightup not the one on the right.
Make sure you leave all doors open.

This leads into a small room with a couple of chests and some bedrolls.
From there take the East open door into the Monastery.
Head through the room with the bedrolls into the next room, a larger bedroom. There’s a hidden Treasure Map II behind the far side of the bed.

Enter the next room and you will see a table, four large chairs, some drawers and a Hard chest in the corner.
Lockpick the Hard chest. Inside you will find the Key to Forbidden Books.
Head through the next two rooms until you reach the Library.
There’s a large Wooden Wardrobe in the corner of the library. Open it with the key to find the Necronomicon.
Head out the door next to this Wardrobe.
Just keep trying it took me a lot tries as well, save just before you start.
If all else fails go to 1.49 secs he uses the other door the logest way round lol, but once you get teh book use Fast travel if you want. Give the book to the alchemist in rattay :)

There's a quest where they let you inside the monastery. Otherwise you have to lockpick one of the many doors that vary in difficulty. You can also try getting in the prior's room, it's easier to lockpick as far as I remember, and steal monastery master key from him.
Or you can climb the scaffolding, jump on the monastery roofs and then in the inside garden. But then you'll have to get out somehow once you're done. There's another master key hidden in the kitchen, on the shelf in its darkest corner (you'll need a torch to even see it).

that door he opens in the video at 2:13 is locked for me and i can't pick it, its a very hard lock.

also i'm not sure what you mean by "long way around" the path you describe and the one the guy uses in the video are the same, with just one exception that really doesn't matter (going straight instead of going to the door on the right, by going straight you avoid the room with the overseer, but that's it.

where is the prior room? i tried to explore everything around the monastery, and i didn't find a single chest with a key that could be used to open any of the doors around the monastery not even brother Porter has it, and afaik he's the one in charge, and pretty much every other place i couldn't explore is locked with a very hard lock, I'm now aware that later on the story i can get access to the monastery but i'd like to get this quest done now that i took it before advancing the story.

Prior's room is kinda above the main gate. When you enter the monastery through the main gate, turn left, go up the ladder on the 2nd floor and walk through a number of rooms in the direction of where the library is. Just checked and it seems to be not locked at all during the day, and the prior stands there reading something, very easy to pickpocket. His room is also connected with the library

Is that the room in that video? before he goes through the door that i can't open? right after the room with the forbidden books key? its a room with a single bed in the corner? if it is... there is nobody in there at night for me, the bed was empty and the chest had nothing.

Yes, that room. Not sure why he's not there, try it during the day.
Although I'm mistaken, THAT exact door you've mentioned cannot be opened even with prior's key for some reason. But the library can be reached from the other side, and the key opens pretty much everything else. Just unlock any other monastery door, get in during the night and figure your way around (can be difficult cause the place is a huge labyrinth). Or use the rooftops

okay i'll try reloading my savegame from around midnight, when i checked it again it was already almost 5am and maybe he left, because i remember exploring that room earlier and saw somebody in there.
