I don't think the combat is bad, it's just that because you have just started you are bad at it, both you and Henry. It's not a system you can just hack away and win. Although by the time you have finished the prologue you will most likely be passed the refund stage.
Just so you know that first quest has a lot of different ways to complete it. That is what I like about it as well. Many ways to complete most quests.
You get to the point where you are overpowered and unstoppable just like other games, but this time you feel like you earned it as you had to train and learn to get there.
As for cutscenes, why don't you like those? However, after the tutorial, which you are in, they get seriously cut down.
However, I am not going to be able to tell you if you should continue or not. I like this game and it is a singleplayer game so it makes no difference to me if you don't play or not.
It is up to you.
Still lots of grind in the game, but it makes it realistic, since the main character dont had any experience in battles, but its getting better.
Exactly, why the hell would you want to make a comprehensive combat system that would be easy to learn and doesn’t take a 15 step tutorial that literally takes hours to learn and even after you finally get the hang of it they through you into a 5v1 fight that you can’t possibly win until you get so frustrated for being stuck for two hours not able to progress the story line you just delete the game? Why wouldn’t people like this game?
I will admit it’s like a heroin addiction, that you decide to come back after a couple of days and try different ways until you finally crack the stupid wall that’s been blocking your path but why make a game so frustrating where you can’t even be moderately effective till you’re at the three quarters mark of the main story? And if you try to disengage the bamston decides he doesn’t want to run and turns around to get stabbed in the face or your horse decides this is a good time to take up prancing and just yeets you off it’s back, just in time for those five thugs you have to fight to all stab you at the same time finishing you off no matter how thick your armor is or how many times you’ve been in the fighting pit with captain uppity pants?
You can never really be over-powered in KCD - for example, a top level character in full plate armor can still be beat to death if he becomes surrrounded by 5 peasants (dressed in rags) with sticks. Sort of stupid, but there it is. Your opponents level, and can always be challenging if you aren't smart or willing to try a few different ways to deal with them.
The real gem to this game is the Story writing and "Role Playing", as in character immersion and becoming Henry and crafting Henry into what you want him to be. The writing and choices, and NPC responses to Henry is what really shines (making this a different sort of RPG).
The graphics are actually quite horrible for 2018 - not sure what others are playing to say they are great, but they are on par with Skyrim (on Ultra Graphics, c2012?) and Witcher 3 - probably mainly due to the the poor graphics optimization of KCD.
The stealth system is pretty cool, but quirky - they completely pooched the "Stealth Kill" system since you lose reputation even if you are not seen, but you can steal from someones house and never get in trouble even though they see you leave. (you can only get "caught in the act" as in most games).
The prologue/tutorial is pretty bland and stupid, until you realize that fighting Kunesh is not your best option, then it becomes a bit more fun. But only a bit.
If you are looking for the Glory heaped upon the character in games like Skyrim - "DragonBorn" and all that - well, i suspect you will continue to be disappointed. Henry is a peasant. That's all.
How Henry deals with the problems he faces is up to you though, for the most part. And while you can learn the combat system to the point where 1 v 1 is actually fun (and 1 v 2 is manageable), but 1 v 5 always ends with your face in the dust unless you accept the challenge and approach the situation in a very clear and calculated way - controlling you battle space.
