All you need do if you can is rob his body of the spurs and the capt helmet then your good to go, hand them in.
With regards to honour I wouldn't apply this in quests especially this one as you get a better reputation with town since your cleaning out the bandits.
Aside from the capt kill them all and collect their bandit ears for more groschion as Bernard will buy them.
This quest has a lot more kill the capt bandits ahead of you.
Don't kill towns people or their villagers nor rob them. :)
I don't think sparing coomans has any effect. Seems to be purely roleplaying choice
Well, it´s been quite a few ingame days since this "accident" happened and so far the marker is still at the spot where he died, maybe I need to wait even longer.
The camp itself is not highlighted anymore, just the beforementioned leader and I can´t take his ears because the game thinks I didn´t kill him due to me letting him go and him bleeding out. Although I have caused it the game doesn´t count this as a kill.

And I´m looking forward to more quests like this, it´s fun to kill bandits =) I hope this problem will sort out soon by itself and I can progress more in this questline.

No ears unfortunately.
I found the ear and the quest is now completed.
Thx a lot!
