Travellers on the roads are enemies
Hey,

I have a problem with random people on the road running away from me plus losing reputation when they do.
It startet randomly with one or two wanderers I met on the roads. Now everywhere I go people run away. Doesnt matter if it is night or day or if I fasttravel or ride there by my own.

Does anyone know what I can do to fix this?

The only ways to effectively reset your reputation is to give it loads of time - and leave everyone alone - or do Jail Time.

Basically, when your reputation is very very low, you are a known criminal to the general population (traders and villagers, for example) - but if you do some jail time, your reputation with the general population will reset to near 50 (since you've "paid your dues"). The soldiers will dislike you for a while, but that will wear off in a few days.

Only do jail time where your Reputation is the worst.

To do some jail time, punch a guard in the face, or let him see you pickpocketing, or come such thing.

However, when i was in a similar situation, i ended up having to do 14 days of jailtime, plus the debuff time (from being a jail bird), plus the continued dislike of the guards, which causes them to want to search me more often.

In the end, i just restarted the game and chose to no longer use Stealth Kill ever since it is such a stupid and unrealistic effect.

Thanks for explaining.

I just did exactly that a few minutes ago. I stole from a guard and went to jail for 20 houres or so. The travellers simply go past me now, just like they used to do.

Didn't know it was caused by killing people who are completly alone on the roads. Stupid bug I guess? I'll just leave people alone from now on then.

That's because technically those wayfarers are same NPCs you've assaulted before.
Anyway if catching a criminal who hasn't been seen was 'unrealistic', prisons would be empty IRL.

hey guys, i have a similar problem, only i encountered a group of traders attacked by a group of bandits. traders were screaming for help and so i took my sword and killed the bandits, got +rep for a nearby village and a few minutes later -rep in 3 cities and now i'm a wanted criminal. what the hell?

The encounters are badly scripted I think. I killed some cumans who were attacking guards on the road. They thanked me when I saw one more cuman creeping up on them. I attacked and killed the cuman and the guards got angry at me for killing people. They wanted to throw me into prison for killing a cuman who was attacking them...

He was probably sitting down surrendering

No he was walking up straight. The random encounter just had ended and the guards went back into their "normal guard mode". It's just badly scripted.

i had this one too, only guards watched me fighting cumans for 3 mins and after i killed all of them, they attacked me

This is why in my latest play through, I just kill whoever I want and take what I want. When the guards come, I kill them too. None of the random NPC interactions are necessary or worthwhile anyways.
