The one save corruptor I know is if you subtract the ancient treasure DLC after you start a game. You didn't buy any DLC during this last sale did you? That could possibly affect the save file, though I am not sure how unless you turned them off.
Another issue is that the save and exit file is temporary, and is deleted when loaded, which may have caused a compounding issue for you.
My Googlefu is stating that this is a Cryoengine issue, less than a game issue. People have stated no amount of Dev patching will fix this, and it hits people more often on consoles than on PC (though people, anecdotal evidence). It also seems random, some people claims it is due to the number of saves made, but I have 160 hours, you would think I would have run into it. Some people make backups to their saves. Steam does this automatically if you have Steam cloud up.
Now, I am not saying you have to do this, but it may work. If you delete all the physical saves from your drive and allow Steam to download from the save cloud, it could fix the issue. It could also leave you in the situation you are in now, as the cloud saves could be corrupted too. Its a possible fix, or leaving you further up poo creek.
Yeah, you will go to load the game and Steam will notice a difference in the files and ask if you want to sync up. You say yes and it will begin to download the files.
You used to have to set it up, but now cloud drives run in the background of just about anything now so it is seemingly an automatic feature. (Same reason Discord servers are free). The way to check is to right click the game, to to properties, updates, at the bottom will be steam cloud and there should be a check box.
Should be in somewhere roughly called C:\users\user(your name)\Saved Games\Kingdom Come Deliverance
Found mine with the same path
No, that was my one. I am sorry man.
A flaw like that can't be in the game itself, that has to be in the engine. How or why they didn't fix it in the first iteration is odd. It should have been known about in Crysis. Then again, people were stating it was known about in Crysis. . .
Verify the game...it MAY HAVE downloaded In-correctly and is Missing files
(words written below in ( Brackets) mean "Do this action",)
THIS is part of Steam to FIX all non functioning games;
go to the game Library
FIND
Kingdomcome; Deliverance
(right click on it)
OPEN
Local Files
(scroll down to find)
VERIFY,
(click on it and let it run)
DONE!
99.9% chance in my mind that the game will start/run after this
Suggest to CLOSE steam after if Verifies all files
then restart steam and the KCD game
