Reeky is missing...

I know this has been asked a lot as it seems to be a bug or whatever but I'm wondering if anyone can help me with this before I have to restart my game from the start.

As soon as the quest On the Scent started where you have to track down Reeky I decided to put the quest on hold and pretty much spent one actual real time week completing as many side quests/activities as I could as I didn't want to miss out on them. I didn't realise that the main quest I was putting on hold was so time sensitive but I figured it would be fine.

When I finally got back to the quest I went to Ledetchko, questioned the bathhouse wench and got the information about the caves from Reeky's Dad, I also dug up Reeky's stash. The locations of three of the caves he could be hiding in was revealed to me. I searched them all but when I get to the cave that Reeky is supposed to be in... he just isn't there. He's no where to be seen, there are no bandits to fight. There is some blood in the cave and his stuff is there but not him.

When I get to the cave, the quest marker completes the 'Find the cave where Reeky is hiding' - something along the lines of that, but there is no follow up quest. The quest to 'Track down Reeky' in Ledetchko is still active and shows me the area around the town but there is nothing left for me to do there. I can't question anyone as I already have and there is no way that I can see to progress forward. I have tried going straight to the mill to look for Timmy or talk to his sister, as I read that is the following quest but can't talk to the sister.

Currently I am spending my time walking around the cave he is supposed to be in, hoping to find his body lying around by chance.

I know this is a well known bug but I was hoping someone may have found a workaround to it by now and would be willing to share how they did it with me. I have no old saves left as I've done a lot and have been saving over when I think it's important and the Reeky quest started a LONG time ago.

I'm enjoying the game and don't really want to have to start again as I've invested so much time into all the little side things that can be done. I've bought it after the full release and also this is the only game breaking bug I have come across. Can anyone assist me?

The OP said in the opening statement that all 3 caves were checked and the one where Reeky is meant to be is empty. He seems to have fallen through the world.

You misapprehend my meaning. "THE" bandit camp. Not the side fluff along the way.
You only need to interview Lubosh to find the camp. Oh... plan B. You only need to drink with the priest in order to find the smelly sidekick (or find the same information from the Black Book)... in order to ask Reeky about where the camp is... but he doesn't know, and points you at Timmy, via his sister...

If this chain 'fails' then just "finding the camp" completes the task(s). The same with All That Glistens, later in the game.

The OP has already found THE camp....... as stated in the opening statement of this thread.

No. He found Reeky's camp. Which is an irrelevant stepping stone along the path to "the middle of the game". You want "THE" camp.

I think all 3 of us might be at cross-purposes here. I don't know about you and Lieste but I've been using the terms "cave", "camp" and "hideout" interchangeably to refer to Reeky's expected location. I think Lieste may be referring to the woodcutters camps but I can't be too sure.

I've been working on the assumption that Reddan8233 wanted to play the game blindly and immersively as if playiing it for the first time (as I do every on playthrough). That's why I couldn't work out what Lieste meant when referring to "THE camp". It never even occurred to me that Lieste was advising Reddan8233 to essentially cheat and skip parts of the quest line. The game is meant to be immersive and Henry is not meant to be omniscient - it breaks immersion and completely defeats the object of the game in my opinion.

Edit: Reddan8233 came to the thread to find a way to overcome a bug in order to complete the quest objective properly (I would assume).

Having a bug is breaking the immersion. So help usually isn't oriented to be immersive. If someone don't want forward help he has only backward help of loading an old save from a bugfree state. But both are not immersive.

Has anyone ever found a solution to the missing Reeky bug? I'm going through the same ordeal.

He's inside the cave - provided you didn't skip any of the steps to find him

The OP was pretty clear i that she searched the "CAVE". If she was indeed at the correct cave - this one has a dead deer strung up inside so is easily identifiable. I tend to agree that more than likely while she dawdled the bandits caught up to him and killed him. On my latest playthru I actually murdered THEM just outside of Ledetchko as they were on their way towards the woods to look for Reeky. Everything carried on from there.

I wonder if the game has an out for this ? Like the one time I pissed off the priest instead of wh*ring with him, there turned out to be another way to get things done by talking to the local bailiff. I wonder if returning to Radzig would bring up a new dialog option ? Or maybe someone else who knew Reeky ? Or simply waiting to see if Reeky re-spawns ? No matter who you kill in this game, they eventually re-spawn. It's actually creepy.
