Reeky is missing...

I know this has been asked a lot as it seems to be a bug or whatever but I'm wondering if anyone can help me with this before I have to restart my game from the start.

As soon as the quest On the Scent started where you have to track down Reeky I decided to put the quest on hold and pretty much spent one actual real time week completing as many side quests/activities as I could as I didn't want to miss out on them. I didn't realise that the main quest I was putting on hold was so time sensitive but I figured it would be fine.

When I finally got back to the quest I went to Ledetchko, questioned the bathhouse wench and got the information about the caves from Reeky's Dad, I also dug up Reeky's stash. The locations of three of the caves he could be hiding in was revealed to me. I searched them all but when I get to the cave that Reeky is supposed to be in... he just isn't there. He's no where to be seen, there are no bandits to fight. There is some blood in the cave and his stuff is there but not him.

When I get to the cave, the quest marker completes the 'Find the cave where Reeky is hiding' - something along the lines of that, but there is no follow up quest. The quest to 'Track down Reeky' in Ledetchko is still active and shows me the area around the town but there is nothing left for me to do there. I can't question anyone as I already have and there is no way that I can see to progress forward. I have tried going straight to the mill to look for Timmy or talk to his sister, as I read that is the following quest but can't talk to the sister.

Currently I am spending my time walking around the cave he is supposed to be in, hoping to find his body lying around by chance.

I know this is a well known bug but I was hoping someone may have found a workaround to it by now and would be willing to share how they did it with me. I have no old saves left as I've done a lot and have been saving over when I think it's important and the Reeky quest started a LONG time ago.

I'm enjoying the game and don't really want to have to start again as I've invested so much time into all the little side things that can be done. I've bought it after the full release and also this is the only game breaking bug I have come across. Can anyone assist me?

Well If you get there too late, the bandits find him and stab him, it sounds like he died and despawned.

Googlefu is telling me people who had similar issues went to the next quest spot and were able to continue. They went to the mill where Timmy's sister is and/or go to Timmy and the quest updated.

Yeah I thought he may have been killed and despawned. I've gone to the mill however I have no option to talk to Timmy's sister :/

No luck. Go to the Mill, can't talk to the sister or the other millers. Headed to the place Timmy is 'supposed' to be but he's not there either. Just a man and a woman whom I can't talk to...

The only thing I can suggest is check a sleep save. They don't get saved over like potion saves do, and you might find an earlier save that way. Otherwise you might be bugged out. I am not seeing any solutions. Maybe someone else knows something.

Not played in a long time was it Sir Radzig who gave the quest ? if so might find updating him about how things are going will move things along. Pretty sure he done that for me once when I messed up a quest.

The only thing I can suggest is to download and install the cheat mod from Nexusmods, use the command "cheat_loc" to find out the 3-axis coordinates of your location, then use the command "cheat_teleport_npc_to_loc token:Reeky x:1 y:2 z:3" (without air quotes and with your coordinates that you just found out. in theory he should appear to in your location (probably best to move out of the way a bit first).

it doesn't work. and i use "cheat_spawn_npc token:Reeky" and reeky show up!!
than i taking to him and CRASH. loading.loading.loading.loading.loading

Notice though that the cheat command you used says "spawn" not "teleport". It might simply be that you spawned a second version of him into the world and interacting with him caused a conflict and subsequent crash.

You might want to try "cheat_find_npc" to get the coordinates of Reeky's location, then use the command "cheat_teleport" to teleport yourself to his location and try to interact with him. You could also try my original suggestion if that doesn't work.

I thought he might have fallen through the world but figured it best to try different options.

I don't think that the devs included a command for you to quest-complete unfortunately (although I might be wrong).

Just "find" the bandit camp. The whole purpose of the investigation is to help you locate it... which you can do by going there.
