Yup, I thought that was indeed the case.
I am playing on the current build 1.6.2 PC version.
Just reloaded the save where I return to Skalitz. I entered Henry's home, went to the room directly to the right and in the back left corner was a chest with an easy lock on it. Within that one is the die. (The chest contains the die, some groschen and a skill book.)
If it isn't in there for you, then either a couple things have happened.
1. At some point you already picked up everything from this chest and accidentally dropped the die from your inventory without realising.
2. The chest somehow became bugged and there was nothing in the chest when you checked it.
*EDIT* Also reloaded a save prior to the destruction of Skalitz, chest is there in the same location and is accessible to me.
Version 1.6.2 PC, just like Casey. I have opened this box 3 times in this build, once before the battle and twice after.
How could picking it up early be the solution though? As I stated I loaded 2 different saves, one from the prologue and another from after the prologue and at both times the box was there and I was able to access the locked box both times and both times the contents were there.
One thing I did not attempt was to unlock the chest, leave the contents alone then come back after ending up in Rattay, though logically from how chests seem to work in the rest of the game if I unlocked it but never touched the contents it should still be there.
Ps I am playing the hardcore mode
