Monastery too dark - Unplayable?

I've gotten stuck on the whole Monastery mission. It's far too dark. Reading the forums it sounds like Gamma controls were removed.

I tried changing the gamma settings in the xml files for the Saved Games folder. After restarting this did not adjust gamma. Advice?

Is there a known torch on the level, someplace?

Yeah vendors sell them, and you can make potions to see at night Nighthawk potion
OR Just press T and wait out the night hours...

Torches are scattered literally everywhere inside the monastery, check any chest/cabinet

Why do you not already have a torch to start with? You can't walk around any city at night without some form of light or you will be arrested. I just got nabbed from walking no more than 10 seconds from the fast travel spawn to my bed. When I woke there was a guard in front of me ready to beat my backside down.

There isn't any reason to not have a torch on you at all times. Every single enemy has one, most any traders have them, and you can't stop finding the things in chests/storage boxes. Literally any playstyle you can do has you drowning in torches.

Can't find my way out. Too dark. Also, not sure I'm allowed to leave. I joined the order.

As part of the quest you empty your inventory.
