Do they ever plan to fix "tackling"?
It's extremely annoying to have to run someone down for 5+ minutes.

Run faster. Check speed stats increase agility go light armor.
My current lvl has no trouble. Take your time and lvl up stats. These r all suggestions.

Tackling does work, it does low damage per tackle though.

I wish they would add a skill 'hamstring' or something to debuff their speed. if im running up behind someone with a sword, i'd be slitting that calf or chopping the leg out from under them. Cannot wait to mod that in.

Otherwise, practice poaching animals and shoot them in the back as they run away. if they're moving through a dense thicket, just sprint up behind them and draw, they won't escape.

I mean, slashing someone in the back/ tackling them to the ground, then having them instantaneously getting up, warping forwards like they never fell to the ground, and continuing on like nothing happened cannot be a feature, it is a bug/flaw in the game. Like I get that it is possible to kill them and catch them, but it shouldn't be that difficult

Take off some of you'r armour and check your speed stat. Should boost your speed and youll be able to catch them no problem.

Or hop on your horse, get in front of them and catch them that way.

hmmm guess I don't know my own strength then, cause when I takle them they flip over and are knocked out, ready for me to loot and then give it back to the guy asking for help. then he wakes up and runs out of town..

It's not catching up with them thats the problem. I hit them, they stay on the ground for .5 seconds, then even before my tackle animation is done, they are ahead of me again. If they are armored, I have to do this on repeat for 5-10 minutes, because I can MAYBE get 1 stab in, impossible to get a slash

Yep, you whack em with a sword in the back, they pause very briefly and you don't get a chance to hit em again (which would certainly be an easy thing to do) because you're now waiting on your own character animations, next thing you know he's 10 yards ahead again and running fast as ever. Lame mechanic. They are usually gravely injured by the time they flee, and so they should suffer a huge loss of speed from the get-go.

Sheath weapon and enjoy real tackle damage.

Here is a thing. You know those running perks? You know, those that say "run 20% slower/faster but consume 20% less/more stamina".

Here is an argument why you should pick Sprinter.
It might look as these perks are worthless, that you get to the same location no matter which option you pick. But I think Sprinter is more worth it then nothing or marathon. You can see the Sprinter perk as that you cover the same ground as marathon. Sprinter can run faster but not as far, and marathon run slower but for longer. It might be right and most likely require testing. But the difference is that Sprinter get to the same distance faster then the marathon does which means that if you want to chase someone you should go for sprinter, and you always got time to recover your stamina while marathon catch up to you.

Also. With the maintance perk you can lower the Stamina drain for running with shoes you repaired with 20% which negate the negative of the Sprinter perk.

If you think it take 5 min to chase down a runner, get sprinter and he will run out of stamina before you do.

Don't forget the stamina recover plays a big part in this as well.

the person that you chase is a sprinter. quick run and fast recover to sprint again.
not a marathon runner that is going at a steady pace with no or little lose of stamina with a slower recovery. so yes the sprinter will pull away.. rest then pull away. always able to just stay out of reach from the guy plodding alot at a steady but slower speed.

makes sense to me.

Is there an NPC worth chasing? I didn't run into that situation in my game.

as said before repeatedly, catching the guy running away isn't the problem that the OP is discussing. hitting him and making him stay down is the problem. Raking someone in the back with a sword should nearly kill them, or cause enough pain to stagger them.

op has a point though, you shouldn't need to sheath your sword to stop someone from running away.

if a bandit wanna ambush me, and expect to escape, think again. and the armor alone from heavy armored bandits nets 400 per bandit most times.

As I stated. my charactor must be stronger or something, cause when I chase down someone running, either from some one in town. to some woman with a mace in hand rummaging thru pockets and runs to tell everyone I did it. I am more then able to get close enough to tackle I hit tackle button and down they go. no fus no muss down and out for the count. Heck I can even run up to them crouch down and even stealth kill. all it took was leveling agility and picking any perk that increased speed no matter how. be it from wearing self repaired armor. to the type of shoes . I pay attention to that speed Stat cause in a knive world speed is life as well as death.

It's impossible to land a good blow when running, also some tackling animations don't use a weapon at all, also most NPCs you would want to chase are armored.
OP's problem is more like "I want to outrun anyone in the game lol why the game doesn't allow me that"

it should be a button tapping, or combination to find your feet again dependant on how close to the head this was.
