Very important!: Learn your parry/riposte and first few combos until you can do them in your sleep! I´ve spent some odd hours with captain bernard to get a proper feeling!
I mean no offense, you really need to practice. I saw someone post in a discussion that you should NEVER go 1v4 unless you are some sort of blood thirsty maniac sent by Jesus to punish the heathens with a smacking. Get good gear, learn how to block, parry, and clinch (pushing yourself into the enemy, hitting buttons faster then them eg: swinging , thrusting, kicking with F) and lay the smack down.
Understand the fact that your armor wears after each fight, and it's going to wear down , fast. The stats will drop with it, same goes with the enemy you're fighting with, what they wear needs to be broken down as well before you manage to deal any damage. I reccomend fighting them with the horse on if you're high with horsemanship and it won't kick you down. Getting distance and using a bow is a strategy as well.
note: captin bernard is literally the most skilled npc in the game so you will get very beat up by him but once you can consistantly beat him you are ready for 3v1 battles.
and maybe which weapon is better to use???
sword or axe or mace ??
This game is all about stats, so you need to train a lot..
edit: if you have to go hunting with sir capon then you have gone too far and you will not be able to train until after a mission which is actually quight long and time scensitive...due to the time sencitivity which you will feel you may accidentally go on the raid befor knowing how to fight and will have to fight runt who will absolutely destroy you
This. You have to train to get better. And remember if you attack in the direction that you'r apponent is holding his weapon he will block it. So re-train in rattay and do the combat. Listen to what Bernard says. It helps.
But for hand to hand combat. Try to trick enemies, you can hold your sword like you're about to hit him from the top, but change to a hit from the right or left instead, they can block those hits too, but they hit more often than the regular ones and just from my experiance, the stab is pretty great.
