Freezing and Sound Bug makes the game unplayable
Hello,

I have the following bug:

At first, before getting beaten up by Runt, every once in a while the sound starts looping in second intervals, and shortly afterwards the game will freeze for about a minute (!) . If that happens while in dialogue, instead the character mouth animation will stop and the sound will be gone, while the (now silently) dialogue still continue, but slower. After a minute, the sound comes back, with whatever dialogue was said before the bug started being said at the same time as the new dialogue. Should the dialogue end before the bug is over, the game will freeze as usual.

Now, before the open world began, it didn't happen too often, and not in cutscene. But since the open world started (after the first Runt fight), the bug has become much worse. Now it literally happens almost every half a minute. I realized usually when something is loading, like texture, or going next to a NPC. Also now in cutscenes, too. The last cutscene had 4 of these freezes, again like the dialogue, with the sound and mouth animation disappearing, but otherwise continuing.

While this happens, after the first seconds of the freeze, I hear my hardrive making a short click sound, and one, two seconds before the freeze ends a short click noise again. Otherwise it's silent.

To me, it seems as if the game has problems reading the disk? Or Hardrive? Or something like that, I don't know. But it made the game unplayable to me, since it ruins both normal gameplay, and any cutscene and dialogue.

I have a GTX 1080 with 16 GB RAM.

EDIT:

I have made several Videos that show the Freezing Bug that makes the game unplayable for me. These kind of freezes happen every minute or so. See the playlist here:

Added it. Any other info that would be important?

I'm having the same problem. The game seems awesome but there is too much freezing for it to be enjoyable at this point.

The same. It was bearable when it happened only every once in a while. Now that it happens every minute, it is too much.

I heard from someone that when he upgraded from Win 7 to Win 10, the freezes stopped.

Has anyone here who also suffers from freezes Win 10? Or anyone able to upgrade and tell us if it helped?

That's it, I am done. I am not playing this game for a while and am considering giving it a negative review.

I waited for the game so long. In the few moments the game works I have so much fun. But just a moment ago I had 5 (!!!) of these at least one minute long freezes one after another. With the same symptoms as before, sound loop, freeze or no audio in dialogue, one clicking sound from my hardrive at the beginning, another at the end.

The game is literally unplayable for me. And as much as I heard and read, I am far from the only person. I could live with the low fps, but not this. This shouldn't be acceptable and be accepted by people who bought the game. I am furious right now. Never had a game these problems, never.

This thread made me not buy this game at full price. I was looking forward to buying it at full price but now it'll have to wait until the dev can get their business in order and fix their product.

I just tested for a bit.

It seems the freezes become worse the more stuff is going on, and the freezes are always accompanied with textures not loading properly for a moment.

In the wilderness, the freezes happen far less than in towns, where they happen every few seconds.

You didn't mention your cpu in your specs.

AMD FX-8350. Used to have an AMD Graphic Crad. I am planning to eventually upgrade the CPU, but as of yet, it never caused any trouble with any modern game.

I have the same CPU. Running a GTX 970 and 16 GB ram. I managed to get rid of SOME of the freezing by screwing with some video settings. I'm not entirely sure what made the difference though.

Video Settings ingame or outside like for example Nvidia Control Panel?

Maybe you could post your settings, see if they would help me in any way to see if that may be one of the issues.

I went into nvidia control panel and just changed the power management to 'prefer maximum performance'.

These are my in-game settings:

Particles, physics, and shadows are at 'medium'.

Game effects, lighting, postprocess quality, shader quality, water details, and volumentric effect is at 'high'.

Object quality, textures, and vegetation detail are at 'ultra high'.

Object, LOD, and vegetation draw distance is all about halfway.

There is still some freezing, especially during dialogue, but I feel like it's not as bad as it used to be. Hopefully messing with your settings will help a little. I noticed that a couple other people with our same CPU are having the same problem. Lets hope it gets fixed soon.

I have a Nvida GTX 980, i5-2500K and 16GB RAM.
My ingame-graphic settings are low for most. Objectquality is middle.
And I have many freezes, not only in dialogues, but almost every 5 steps (and sometimes even when just moving the camera/mouse)

Any ideas someone?
