buying coal

I'm stuck on the very first mission. I'm supposed to buy coal, but I don't have enough money. I did like the game said and tried to collect money from Kunesh, but all he had in the chest in his house was a hammer and nails, and the trader was only willing to offer 3 gold for that (and I need 5 gold for the coal).

Is there any way to make a bit of gold real quick? (fyi I'm not interested in stealing at all)

You can get money there from stealing stuff and selling to some people, at least that's how I did, even though they were stolen they were okay with that.

Gather flowers and sell them, there's a ton of herbs and flowers to pick in the town, you can also play dice with the guy sitting in front of the coal trader.

Go back to you house where you wake up, open one of the doors, take all carrots, apples, cabbages etc. Its like...20gold. Or steal stuff from other ppl. If you try hard enough, you might even leave Skalitz with 100g :D

I just took his tools and traded it with that coal guy for the coal. He doesn't want to pay then i'll just sell off the stuff that don't belong to him since he didn't pay for it.

What bothers me is that the money your father gives you isn't enough to buy some beer and some (more) coal (you get 0.7, beer is 0.2 and coal is 0.5 (per unit)).

It would be great if they could change that (it should be 1/1 instead of 1/10).

There should be a way to solve this situation without being forced into stealing or selling goods

I usually pick flowers until herbalism 5, sell the flowers, buy small cobblers kit & small tailor kit

Next goal after that is lockpicks from fritz (have to be careful with the order of things or else he won't give them to you). You can steal enough stuff to buy all you want, get one of every repair kit, and have enough left over for a couple books after you are released from the tutorial.

But yeah I agree, your father is a blacksmith making a sword fit for a noble, so he should have enough money for beer and coal for sure. Probably an oversight.

Only 100g? I get much more then that when I do my starts.

The game offers a lot of diffrent ways to achive your quests ... Sell something, or steal, be a good guy or bad guy ... Your choise. And you can allways use YouTube for tutorials.
