While a fix is being addressed, the work around is to dismount BEFORE looking at a treasure map.
It is also worthwhile to keep a lot of Saviour Schnapps stored in your horse, then while you are out and about, save frequently, to maintain progress in your gameplay.
Additionally, it is also helpful to save, exit and restart your computer, to refresh threads and files. This prevents bugs and crashes etc from occuring and only takes a couple of minutes while playing for long periods.
In time, fixes will improve as updates come out, so it'll all be fine eventually.

Just undress your horse and fall from it after excessive gallop?
An easier solution is to gallop your horse into something hanging low, such as the edge of a slanted roof building or a stone wall only tall enough to walk through. Low branches may also dismount you. If that doesn't work, try the above
