Lag Spikes
Hey guys,
first of all (as far as i can say) i really enjoy the game and it runs mostly smooth for me.
But from time to time i get strange lkag spikes which seem to be from my CPU (according to the task manager overview). While playing i have 30% - 65% CPU usage, but sometimes it just jumps to 100%. No matter if im playing or im in a video sequence.

Does anybody has encountered the same problem? Can i fix it by myself? Is my CPU to bad (but why does the game runs on 30-65% mostly then?)

I would be glad to get any feedback on this since i really want to play this game completly smoothly! :)

probably just a memory leak

I have a i7 3770k 3,2ghz and I get severe lag spikes in towns and populated areas. I think It seems to depend on what direction i'm looking in. I can stand completely still and turn the camera around and I get an FPS of between 60 down to 15-20 at random times. I have a 1070 with it.

Memory leak does not cause high CPU usage...

My problem is rather that the CPU is underperforming, my CPU hovers around 40 percent usage and GPU at 35.

Same here. GTX 750 AMD fx 4300 Usually get around 50 fps but the lag spikes get to me eventually in towns.

I figured out how to (halfway) fix it (at least out of towns).
Someone said it would help to start the game with this properties "-heapsize 2097152" (steam right click on the game, then start options).
And the second thing is to open task manager, right click on the process of KCD.exe and change priority to very high.

Might help you as well :)

The priority thing works really well for me, and there is also one more thing. On my machine the game likes to use one CPU core 100% while all other cores are around 30-40% usage. If I go to Set Affinity in Task Manager and untick the core that has 100% usage (CPU1 for me) then I get a nice framerate boost and the load is distributed better among the remaining cores

Turning off V-Scync really helped for me. Hit "~" and type " r_VSync 0" without the "
same ♥♥♥♥ here, i have OC i5 4690 to 4,4 GHz, 16 GB OC RAM, gtx970 i also sometimes cpu usage spikes to 100% and i have a few seconds lag. wtf?! ofc v-sync off was the first thing i done
