MASSIVE frame rate drops 1080p gtx 1070 LOWEST settings....
so i'm running a gtx 1070, a i5 2500k, 16gb ram and i'm playing in 1080p at the LOWEST settings (because anything higher is just a frame rate disaster, and EVEN MORE unplayable) on lowest i'm getting about 60ish fps average, but even just standing in the middle of the starting town i'll get massive frame rate drops down to 6 fps, and it just literally comes to a halt for a few seconds, and then continues, this is happening ALL THE TIME.... not sure exactly what's going on here, i would've expected a hell of a lot more optimization than this, it's pretty much unplayable at the moment, which is a shame since i've been really looking forward to it, if anyone has any known fixes for this please share, i'm downloading the latest drivers at the moment to see if that helps, but short of that i think it's just going to need a hell of a lot more work before it's really playable....... worst part is i bought it from greenman gaming so the chances of a refund are about 0.

GTX 1080 here and same issue as you describe, interesting to note when looking at the game in processes it doesn't seem to be utilizing the power it could. CPU is at 45% and GPU is 35%. Even on mediium settings i'll look one way and have 60fps, turn slightly and booms i'm in the 20s
Probably your PC, I have a GTX 980 and I run the game on high, with LOD , Object distance and Vegetation draw at max.

Not sure if you have NVidia but they made a driver ready thingy on their website. ?

All in all, my PC is 5 yrs old, and it gets 60 FPS at this settings, 45-50 FPS at ultra.
I dont know much about anything PC wise though so just take my post as information.

I had a similar issue with Battlefield 4 once where the game just didn't use the GPU. The solution was to actually increase the settings so the usage of the graphics card went up along with the frames. Can't really tell if it will work in this case but your case reminded me of it.

Running similar specs, high graphics, ZERO problems, i think my worst framerate drop was down to 54...
Only setting i changed was how the game starts off as borderless windowed. I always change to full screen, have had issues with other games (extremely OLD games at that). Perhaps give that a try.
yer im running on full screen at the moment too, i've been through all the graphics settings and lowest settings are getting me the best performance at the moment. but it freezes ALL THE TIME for about 5 seconds at a time, which makes it unplayable, quite a few other people having this issue aswell unfortunately.

It's your CPU. i5 2500 is not enough for the newest Cryengine.

I'm running i5-6600K; AMD Polaris RX 480; 16 Gig RAM; High settings with 1920 x 1080 res. No issues ... very smooth game play. FPS on average 50 - 60.

May have to concur, i am running a more powerful CPU, other specs are similar tho.
well if it's the cpu they definitely shouldn't have that EXACT cpu listed as the minimum required to play the game properly.......

1440p / GTX1080 here, constant stuttering and droping to 20fps on high setting. its ridiculous i can get constant 60fps playing AC Origin on Max setting when it first came out but not this one. unoptimised as hell.

Yup can confirm, 2500k is struggling a bit with this game
i imagine it's struggling because of the lack of optimization tbh, does fine for things like fallout 4 on ultra settings, havn't had many issues on other games with it that i can think of, i agree that i could use an upgrade lol, but if it's listed as the minimum cpu to play it, there's absolutely no reason it shouldn't be working. people with better cpu are also having this freezing issue, so i wouldn't say that it's the cpu honestly.

I honestly think cry engine was a bad idea for a game like this, especially since its this devs first game ever.

Some games are more CPU dependent than others. I have an i5 2500K OC to 4.2 in one machine and an i7 7700k in another. Regardless of which GPU I have in either one, games like ARMA, Squad, DCS all struggle on the i5 2500K.

the i5 2500k is 7 years old , way too old for the cryengine

And the fact that you are pairing it up with a GTX 1070 , look at all the bottleneck
