But, if you lose the first fight, just approach him and slap him a couple of times till he's down :D
Also it doesn't matter how many times you hit him if there's enough time for him to refill his stamina between blows.
You're better off dodging one of his blows then let loose with a combo. That will drop his stamina and begin to chip away at his health.
If you just punch him once then back away, his stamina will refill and you won't do any damage to his health.
