if PC is low end...
Will this game run smoothly on a one year old low end PC at the lowest settings in the game?!

Well, if were being completely honest, that remains to be seen.

We, as fans, are hoping so but... there's no proof that the current build is well optimized for any said machine really. We're just gonna have to wait til launch and find out :)

There are videos of the beta in which the game runs well and there are also ones where the games doesn't run so great. The game is very complex so I expect some patches will be needed.

Intel HD integrated graphx and 4gb of ram isn't going to cut it.

While your pc may be from last year, the parts are not, I'm afraid.

Alright, I may just go on and Pre Order the Xbox One version of this game perhaps.

Yeah I believe it's for the best.

What is your idea of low-end? If it has less than 8 gigs of RAM and an integrated graphics cards only I doubt you'll be able to run it at anything more that 5fps.

Alright.

A lot of people are just dismissing it out of hand, but having experience trying to run good games on awful PC's, I'm going to be slightly more optimistic.

It depends on how severely they'll let you slash the render resolution. If you can get it down to about 360p by running 1280x720 at half render resolution, you stand a good chance of getting a playable experience. But if you have an Xbox One as you seemed to imply, I'd absolutely recommend you just get that version.

Have you ever used integrated graphics? The integrated model is completely different from dedicated graphics. So much so that Skyrim had to be reverse engineered with a negative graphics mod to run on one.

I have actually. Up until 2015 that was my only method of playing games, and i had some awful crap, too. Integrated GeForce 6150 SE(which would run Skyrim just fine if I ran it in 640x480 and slashed render resolution to 33% with a mod!). :/ And I've been forced onto integrated graphics a couple times since(though on better motherboards and CPUs with better integrated graphics), most notably when my R9 270 died at the end of 2016. But even still, I was able to use the chip integrated into my i5-6600 to run NuDoom fairly well under the conditions I described, those being 1280x720 at half render resolution for an effective 360p resolution.

Running on integrated graphics is a crapshoot, and it depends entirely on both what you're willing to accept and the options you're given, either by the developer or the modding community. Once you have the right options and you're willing to accept what they'll do to the image, you can run just about anything if there's a hint of decent optimization behind it.

Pretty much yeah, I mean, integrated graphics are really no different than runninga game on a smartphone. My friend has intel HD 4000 and while it runs some 3D games great, it had major issues running a 2D game called Sundered in 720p because the drivers made it harder to process 2D imaging than 3D imaging... Weird.

Personally, I could never run a game at lower than 1280x720 or lower than 60fps, not because I can't accept it but because lower than 720p makes my eyes hurt/burn literally. And then lower than 60fps gives me headaches. On the very rare occasion does 30fps not make my head hurt in some way. My usual on my primary pc is 4k and 60fps and my secondary (for travel) pc is 1026p or 1080p at 60fps.
Yeah but apart from everything else, even if his laptop manages to run the game, personally if I had to choose between running the game on an old laptop at low settings or on an xbox one at console settings I'd go for the latter, no?
Nah, because he can just upgrade or get a new pc at any time and enjoy the game more on better hardware :p
Virtually yes, but they aren't cheap. Honestly I couldn't afford a new gaming pc myself right now, so if I were to be put in front of the same choice I'd opt for the xbox copy between that and a pc copy to run on an old laptop.
