Sir Bernard and dying
I went to Sir Bernard to train lightly with practise weapons i selected mace and shield in which i had no skillwithin about 10 seconds i was bleeding had a head injury and my hand or arm was broken i had to use 4 bandages to stop the bleeding and it took me several days to recover my mace skill however did not improve. Developers is this not ridiculous sir bernard should train you not main and kill you please sort this out !

I was training maces and ran in to this as well. I think I know what's wrong: Instead of having a proper practice weapon for training maces, the developers just used the weakest mace in the game (cudgel?). The issue is, maces are BEASTS, and even that wimpy cudgel can seriously censor you up (him too, if you manage to hit him a few times).

They will need to fix it, but to be honest you're probably better off training with real maces, since it's the same thing either way. A workaround to this issue is the Better Trainers mod, and going to Sir Robard in Talmberg for Mace training (can get it up to 16 instantly with a decent amount of money). That's about it, since I don't think that can be patched without a more comprehensive modding kit that WH will hopefully supply soon.

thanks hammer but my little henry is a total wimp in every way when bernard hits him once henrys stamina bar goes almost to zero frankly my mum is 85 years old and she could beat henry to death with her bare hands lol

Bludgeon - 31 blunt damage without STR bonus.
Need some sort of closed helmet or at least Kettle Hat, padded coif, mail coif. Need good gambeson, not a shirt, good hauberk, good cuirass or bringandine, outer jacket/vest/jupon on top of armor. Plate pauldrons plus gauntlets, leg plate chausses, mail chausses.
Relatively weak protection will be on hands: beware of 'third wonder' chain combo.
With such a set of armor you can train half an hour - an hour without a break.

I had a similar experience with my first playthrough when I chose to start my training with Bernard
using a mace (just lightly with a practice weapon!). I was left bleeding and battered within a few seconds, and it was some time before I opted to train with Bernard again, only to find that I could train for hours with a long sword, short sword or axe without being even hurt or having armour damaged much.
Now I opted for the wooden mace practice training again yesterday with a new post patch Henry, following long sessions with wooden axe and sword in which little damage to me or my armour occurred. With more experience of blocking now I fairly quickly put Bernard out of action chiefly by following a perfect block with a stab, which seemed to biff him in the teeth, about 5 times to finish him. I was amazed to knock him out with a practice weapon as I hadn't given him a scratch with anything but the mace (the armour smasher!), and I was on skill level 0 with mace. My joy was shortlived though when I looked at my armour, which cost about 3K groschens to repair, even after I used kits on the less damaged stuff - the Saxon Gambeson was down to 0. He'd only hit me a few times with magical master strikes. It seems the practice mace is acting more like a real mace than a mere stick of wood. Good training but I only got to level 2 so it was rather costly in repairs.

there is no way i can afford to even repair my armor atm henry is running arround in a pair of stollen pants and collecting herbs im hoping to level up his pathetic strength that way

Heh, yeah. I remember that. Unfortunately, if you put RP aside, its incredibly easy to make a lot of money too fast. Once you learn the magical art of completely stripping guards and knights without having to fight and having a horse handy for quick overencumbered getaways, you can be swimming in grochen in 20 minutes or less.

I did quests until I got Pebbles then rode around opening the treasure chests. The chests give lots of better gear than the quests. I wanted to learn the roads, the reins, and level horsemanship. The chests give enough gold to buy best horsie, but I couldn't turn my back on loyal Pebbles so he got a Mod upgrade instead. Henry still can't fight worth spit but he's more ferocious in plate than in his PJs. I continued questing until Cream Puff tried a toe to toe with Runt. I capped Alchemy and Archery will train up all the melee weapons before I tackle Runt again.
