Baptism of fire. too many men died.

have tried everything and keep getting this. main quest seems mega bugged for me.

Did you light all the arrows on fire, poison all the food pots, there are about 4 of each.

Did you tell them there was LOTS of men there?

I never had a issue, but the first time I tried the quest I did not do any of the above and it was quite difficult.

Specifically ... use Bane not poison?

i used regular poison and got the update .

nothing works, i had to restart the game from scratch the first time because of this part of this quest. second time got an issue with cutscene not getting triggered at the reeky part, managed to get it working after loosing 10 hours of gameplay. and voila the old issue with baptism of fire is still here.

When I used poison it showed up as a failed quest. I switched to Bane and it worked for me since.

If you've used Bane across the board for the poison . . . I'd suggest just attacking really aggressively yourself during the battles. You can disengage and heal with potions. Put Bane poison on your sword or arrows and kill a bunch of the enemy yourself, rather than waiting on the guards to do it. If you really want to cheese it, use Bane poisoned "better piercing" arrows, turn on the archery reticle with console, and headshot all the bandits and cumans at close range.

You have to kill all the archers first, there are some archers in the church walls, once you killed all archers it should be good. In my first playthrough I went to battle without sabotaging the camp previously, I was getting the same message over and over again until I realize that there were archers in the church walls killing my guards, once I killed them all I was able to proceed with the battle.

it has nothing to do with the extra archers or what not; i cheated with one hit kill to eliminate as many of them and the bug is still here even before any of Radzig's soldiers even died

I am having the exact same issue supposedly there is a bug that makes the bandits marked as your men idk how to fix and was wondering if you have resolved the issue on your end

Baptism by Fire is notorious for needing to be restarted - it freezes sometimes.

Any problem i've ever had (in my 20 or so playthroughs) is usually due to a new mod i had installed and was using.

Do you have any mods installed ?

Funny - I use the bow reticle mod and the save mod (I've earned it). Have never ever had an issue with this quest save one time the game inexplicably crashed just as 'we' were knocking the gate down. As other have mentioned, I always keep myself occupied with taking out archers with my bow.

if you use making combat easy mod, it will broken the quest.
