PS: The man quest line will give you a free horse after you get to Rattay and start to work for your Lord.
Yea not even after you get Pebbles. If you could you could get the one of the best horses for free in a side quest. There are tree side quests that requier you to ride an other horse for a bit. So if you change ownership by just mounting a horse it would suck for those quests.
But as earning money is really easy, especially if you get into pickpocket and robbing every chest you see. Doing the quest for Bernard to hunt bandits gives you allot of money if you do all the followup missions. If you do them all it should bring in around 25k to 30k in total without selling any of the loot.
I have done most of the side missions and have like 3 quests left on the main storyline now and runing around with about 50k groshen. And I have probably spent around 25k duringing the game. And yes I have a Tier 5 horse with all the best stuff to it.
