"Ultra High for future hardware"
Can someone tell me what about this scene Screenshot[image.ibb.co]:

1. is "ultra high"
2. needs "future hardware"
3. warrants a measly 40fps on a ryzen 5 with a 1060?

im running max and this game looks amazing. I would say you need to turn on volumetric fog and use a nice reshade. There are some nice mods on nexus, have a play then decide if the game looks good or not. i say its stunning.

Color me shocked.

Maybe read the review or do your homework.?

That's about what I expected from you. You have no idea wtf you're talking about.

The 8700k with a 1080ti can't even sustain a proper 60 fps in 1440p that's more processor bottlenecked by comparison to 4k. In fact at points it dips into the 20s so you're most likely lying about your current performance unless you're just staring at the sky.

I did your homework for you. Your claim is disproven. Stop being immature and just admit you were wrong.

Just as added proof I can't sustain 60 FPS in 4k on a pair of 1080 TI's w/1920x Threadripper CPU. That's on "High" preset btw, nowhere near "Ultra". He sure as ♥♥♥♥ isn't going to do it on a single card just because he upgrades his processor.

But you don't understand. My rog 1080ti is overclocked a bit compared to a normal 1080ti so that means I get double the 4k performance somehow so magically it's not my gpu bottlenecking me. I know my stuff trust me - that's why I'll provide 0 proof to my claims, give you synthetic benchmark scores not relevant to real world performance in 95% of situations, and expect you to just believe it.

I78700k upgrade in a few weeks though, so should hit 60fps on max settings then.

That was your claim clearly showing you were talking about the cpu. Don't start backpeddling now :/ Just admit you were wrong honestly. Nothing bad with being wrong since now you're better informed than what you were.

it barely is, especially for gaming. The per core performance is like 5% different, and since KCD can't use 6 cores anyway, a 7700k will perform almost identically to an 8700k in KCD.

My I7 3770k on Ultra high maxed every setting. test run

Turn on the in-game frame rate counter.

*Edit*

Nevermind, it's in the bottom right hand corner. 29 FPS.

i have played on ultra since day one no problems at all maybe had 10 times fps went really low during playing. most fps drops are on the black screens on loading so no complains here and i dont have a super pc it was about 800 bucks 2 years ago

its choppy as hell, i dont play like that lol

^The devs in this thread openly state the game uses 4 cores/8 threads at most. The 8700k will not be utilized beyond that, which means you aren't going to take advantage of your extra cores. That means the only improvement will be due to faster individual cores. You aren't going to gain anywhere near 30 FPS by upgrading.

Not at 4k you aren't. Maybe at 1080p, and even then I'd question it depending on your hardware.

I thought of buying an 8700k for the game but decided against.

I have an i7-2600 at 4.3 and 1080ti at 2050.

On ver 1.3.1 -

At 2160p cpu usage is 40% and gpu usage is 100%. 40fps. Playable not smooth.
At 1080p cpu usage is 70% and gpu usage is 75% Around 75 fps. Sometimes higher, sometimes lower.

(From memory, my witcher3 performance at 4k is around 80 fps so I think KCD has a lot of potential for optimization).

At 4k, KCD fps is restricted by gpu. The exact fps will be impacted by settings but I doubt that an 8700k would have a significant impact on framerate.

The proof is in the pudding, so time to check benchmarks -

There is a video on youtube of an 8700k/1080ti combo at 4k. high res, old release. At 5 GHz cpu usage is only about 20%. By a fluke the video used the same map area as I did, and fps was only a few fps higher than mine at around 45.

1080p, 1440p would be the resolutions where the 8700k would be most effective.

I don't think there is hardware that can run it with stable 60+ fps.
