Is it just me or are the quests and story very boring in this game?
I waited a long time for this game in really like the simulation aspect, how the world looks.

I also think the combat is great even though it could do without the constant slow motion sequences which throw off my rhythm.

But the quests? The majority of them is go from A to B and talk to someone, pick up that or find that item. No tension , no skill or thinking required.

There are some quests which had potential like the one where you need to find out yourself where the sect worships, i enjoyed that part, using the confession to find the landmarks .

But the actual resolution? The supposed moral dilema? it all falls flat.

The monastery quest, I really like the idea and immersed myself into monk life , trying not to cause any attention, trying to find out who Pious was without anyone knowing why I was here .

I mean thats what you are supposed to do when you infiltrate a monastery to kill someone? Right?

Turns out the the side quests lead to nowhere and the one way to find out who Pious is is to tell him directly you want to kill him and miraculously survive being poisoned ? Seriously? Just weak quest design.

The story is so cliche and predictable, which is not necessary a bad thing , for me its more about the execution of a story than necessary originality .

But the execution falls so flat, the pacing is so off , there is never any tension , you just tag along doing fetch quests while the story moves forward in the most predictable boring fashion.

I really wanted to like this game and I waited for it for years and there are some things which are great, the combat, realism , landscapes , but everything else is just boring .

I am now at the Siege quest I have to various amazingly interesting things like buying beer for the men, buying food, bringing the pitch, I mean seriously?

I normally always finish games especially when I am near the end but this is one of the rare instances where I actually dont care at all how it ends and I really have to force myself to continue to play it.

I find that late game, yes there's a lot of Go to A-B then from B-C then come back. But early game, first 20 hours, before Runt fight, there are lots of interesting quests.

I have a theory maybe near end game they ran out of money so they spent less time on fleshing out some missions, like they did at start.

When I got to about 80% through the main story, I had enough of the game and all the fetch quests. So I tried my hardest to only do main quests and finish the game as soon as possible.

Im loving it

Atleast so far. Havent got really far yet but so far I really enjoy these slow-paced quests. I have no need to go & be the hero.

it s not about being the hero, its about doing actually something interesting.

I agree that the first quests were better

I loved the initial part too. Hopefully for you it keeps getting better and better. For me this is the sort of enjoyment pattern I had through the game:

0-20 hours Amazing = 10/10 game (I'm not kidding, I would have given the game 10/10 in the first few hours)
20-40 hours = Good game
40-80 hours = Decent game
80-120 hours = "meh" game

I felt the quality in some way in design went down at a certain point

The game is actually incomplete. You have fishing points that are meaningless and 'interesting sites' appearing that has nothing relative to the gameplay.

You find 'accident' sites but nothing going on sometimes, random events alway occur on the road as fast travelling but never in the world map covering those sites.

Bandits spawns in road encounters for instance, you never find bandit camps that is not a part of a quest line.

ye.. i add quote to my comment..

btw.. foru: whole monastery is sidequest
u know before u go in monastery, here is book when u read that book, u know who is pius.. kill him - u dont need join to monks :)

The point is there is no valid way to find out who is he when you are with the monks

What kind of quest design is that? Hope to find a random book?

You need to give the player the ability to solve the quest from the information that is in the game ,if you dont and you hope for random things, what are you actually doing as a player?

what? :-DDDD
i already know here is a book, where is all about new adepts
when u read that book, u know who is the right person
then u can kill him

u dont need do sidequest, where u join monks in monastery..

what? i dont understand your english, if you mean the abbots list in the monastary, it does not tell you who he is.

Yes, I believe there is a lot of missing things in this game too. There are also 5-6 abandoned mines with nothing in them and most are dead ends. If it was me, I would make these abandoned mines hideouts for bandits and create a whole quest arc for that.

Everything you said is valid point too. I wish the accidents had more content to them.

Quests have been written by amateurs.

It does tell you if you paid attention to the dialogue. However, it doesn't give you the option to pickpocket the dice off him, to bait him and kill him or to force him to give up the dice set. That entire quest is a joke, like you said in the first post.

Ok its true i remember that bit of dialog now , but how can you find a weapon except coming randomly upon it?

one adept tell u about his treasure..

or lockpick door from monastery and get weapon.. or get keys and go out for weapon..
or hide weapon in monastery BEFORE u go to this sidequest

but how can you know from the information in the game that a treasure gives you a weapon
