Learn Sword Skills - where?
So, I'm playing a game where I am not running around for Radzig and so therefore Sir Bernard is NOT standing about at the ...forgot name of it...sword practice place.

Anybody know of alternatives for upskilling weapon skills, aside from in combat?

To learn how to do combos and master stikes you most train with captain of Rattay. There is not work around that. However go full assassins creed can be a better option anyway. If you get your vis/con to around 20, 25 and get a dagger you can take out most stuff. And bow and arrow can do the rest. You just need to about skill 10 in Blow before you really can aim correctly.

There won't be a Runt if I haven't activated Sir Bernhard, smart guy.
ignorance is truly bliss, please keep us posted on how you fare against multiple cumans with your hurt ego and Skalitz level combat skill cause you cant take a little tough talk from an NPC haha =)

Pretty sure he's gonna be back on these forums complaining he has a bug that the main quest doesn't work because he refuses Bernard's training. Mark my words, he'll be whining in no time

If you want to train a weapon skill without progressing up to when ya can train with Bernard (hint you can also train with him just before you go on the hunt with the noble) just get a really weak weapon in the weapon skill you wanna train, blunt it, and find a wayward knight to fight.

I am not doing the main quest for this character I asked about. Therefore, no Sir Bernhard, no Runt, and none of the rest of the story at all, I imagine. I won't be attacking an army of Cumans or any Knights and I don't give a #@ about any raids or forgery or any of all that. I am a thieving, burglarising, robbing peasant character running around on a stolen horse, when I can get one. I am having fun. I play like I want.

I am doing/was doing the main quest on another character.

Does that still grate you somehow? Are you still confused?

I have a run like that on the go. But I am still doing as many quests as I can. Thing is you will end up with a bunch of npcs you cannot target, let alone kill, because they are part of a quest.

But if you do the quest... they are no longer invincible and you can kill them. You are just limiting the number of targets you will have available.

And besides doing the monestary quest by killing everyone except Pious and seeing him wander around freaking out over all the dead bodies around him is far more interesting.

I am not really trying to achieve anything from this character other than surviving and buying kit that further enables my criminal lifestyle. I spend on 'haws', drink, wake up from unconscious spells in fields, I'm in and out of prison.

My character has no interest in any mainstream quests. I am not interested in killing any particular NPC. I don't even 'know' who they are. I am my own master and will serve none.

edit: lol, Steam edits the correct spelling of 'haws', how ridiculous.

Well if you're doing what I did while waiting for the patch.... The best way with weapons training is simply a weak and blunt weapon. Like a seax sword that you have made blunt on a grind stone, or an axe. Though with mace weapons you'll just need to get lucky and find a damged bludgeon.

Then why the ♥♥♥♥ do you need fighting skills? Rabid thieving peasants weren't known for their master swordsmanship

I might just see if I can get by without the grinding at the practice arena. It might just be better this way.
Well, he can teach you a combo, the perfect block and the riposte. That is definatly worth it if not sparring itself.
