Can't progress in Train Hard, Fight Easy

Hi. I'm getting a bit frustrated in this quest.

I did the sword fighting training with Bernard, but now I have no idea what to do. I looked up the quest walkthrough and realize that Bernard is supposed to take me to the range to practice shooting. He doesn't. I can find him at the arena and the only thing I can talk to him about is "basic training". When I choose that one the dialog ends and nothing happens.

Is there a way to reset the quest or otherwise make progression? I'd really like to avoid starting the game all over, and I'm really looking forward to try out the bow :)

The game autosaves at the start of each main quest. You can either restart at the start of this one or any save previous to it. So long as you know exactly what to do(which can be done by watching a vid of the quest), it should work fine if it's a one-time/rare bug. If it doesn't, then you either have to improvise your own solution or try and get support to help.

So when you did the sword training, everything went well yea? Did you get interrupted by the lord and get the cutscene afterward? Did you talk to bernard right after you finished and exited the arena? If you can only talk to bernard about training rather than about the lord then some bug likely happened there.

As you suggested I tried to load the game before I go meet with Bernard. I tried it twice now. I am not getting interrupted by anyone or anything. After completing the sword training, he just goes back to his position by the arena and when I talk to him and choose "basic training" nothing happens.
Actually I am able to talk to him about other stuff, but it's just conversation and doesn't lead to any progression in the quest.
And yes, I tried talking to him right after and I tried waiting for a day to see if that changed anything.

Same issue, Bernard won't go to the archery training ground and you can't progress in this (f****n main) quest. Also, lost all my weapons.

Are you using the same button for "accept/use" as for "skip"?
If so, that might be the problem.

Ah ok, so you tried a save before you met with sir radzig as well yes?
For me, when i did my training with bernard, i had to stop in the middle of it bc lord capon(or w/e his name is) interrupted and asked for the archery training. Then i think i did the free fighting for a couple mins, finished, and talked to bernard about capon. If you didn't have that happen then something went wrong somewhere down the line. Maybe some spawning or trigger error; i'm not sure. You could try either a different time to come there(in morning instead of afternoon) or fast travel somewhere and come back. Not sure what other reset options are available beyond the most drastic ones(e.g. reinstallation). I guess jail might also be a reset option so if you feel like stabbing people with a halberd then you could try that. Anyway, hope something works.

I had that interruption as well. BUT, I finally made it work. I forgot to mention that I had a few mods enabled. I tried to remove all of them and then I was able to progress in the quest. It took me long enough, so hopefully it can prove useful if someone else encounters the same problem.

You have my thanks pal, that was it. I had a couple of mods installed I had forgotten about, and uninstalling these did the trick. :)
