HD Texture Pack - Is it worth it?

I have an i7 4770k (3.5Ghz) and a GTX 1080, does the HD texture pack give a noticable performance hit? I've been running the game on Ultra (apart from Shadows due to obvious reasons) at 55-60fps.

This isn't really a question for this thread (should create your own thread) but I've heard that you should reload a 1.3 save, or start a new game if this happens.

concerning the Texture pack, if you enabled it, do you have to run the Texture settings on "ultra" to actually see a difference, or does "very high + hd texture pack" look better than just the normal "very high" ? just wondering

The texture settings are more for scale, allowing you to control the texture resolution over distance. So it largely depends on your other distance settings. If your game objects/vegetation LOD settings are around or below about 50% you don't need to set texture settings above high because you won't see the higher quality textures over the low quality models.

I have the HD Texture pack (1.4 downloaded it it was 26 GB) BUT I can't switch it on in graphics settings. Upon retrying to download it from Steam the "Download" button immediatelly starts the main game. My GTX 1080 wants to shine, how do I activate the HD pack?

I have the same problem...

hit dl and let it open the g ame.
quit game
exit steam
restart steam
it should start downloading the dlc

once in game you will see the hd option.

Either verify the integrity of the game's files via the game's properties window in Steam or untick and retick the DLC listed in the games details panel within your library. That should start downloading them. They're not included in the 1.4 patch, which was 26GB on its own.

A 1070 has more than enough VRAM. I've got a 1060 (6GB) and can handle Rattay ~40 fps with the HD textures. I actually got a frame rate increase with the 1.4 patch, others weren't so lucky even with better hardware.

i also run a 1060 6gb what settings do you use

Guys HD textures are only for people who got 8K or 4K maybe a little bit even on 2560x1440 only there you see difference. Definitely not on 1920x1080 !!!!

Thats not how it works, better resolution texture means you see more detail when you come close, you can definitely notice diffrence in 1920 too.

Wrong. You'll see the difference even if you play on 720p. That doesn't work like you're saying.

I got performance hit on this computer with hd textures (high/very high settings xcept shadows, and physics wich are low). Had trouble keeping 60 fps, and often it stayed at around 50-55 with hd textures, instead of 60ish
Specs are, i7 6700k 4 Ghz 1070 gtx, Nv2me ssd, and 16 gb ram. Don't know really on the new comp, since I havent played the game really yet on it. Waiting for dlc

Can I just say I tried this again recently and optimisation with the new texture pack is so much better compared to when it first came out, no frame rate drops like before.
