Oath is an Oath - Sir Hans Bug

Playing through an Oath is an Oath - latest upgrade etc. - we win back Talmberg and I'm to ride with Sir Hans to pick up 'father', but Sir Hans stops and dismounts before even leaving Talmberg city limits and so makes it impossible to finish the story line. I know this happened in the game BEFORE the latest patch, and I tried skipping through the cutscenes which was the earlier suggested workaround, but to no avail - Sir Hans still dismounts and never leaves Talmberg. Any ideas or suggestions on how to work around this bug gratefully welcomed!
