Slight confusion about people waking up and stealth

So let me get this straight, I can be unlocking a Very Easy lock, without ever leaving the golden circle (lockpick sweet spot), and it will still wake a sleeping person up?

So what is the point of these boxes do I have to break in during the day to open them?

Also, is it possible to pickpocket sleeping people?

Locks make a loud click when you open them until you get the perk that prevents that. Steal when people aren't around until then.

Pickpocketing sleeping people is the easy way, but make sure that they are deeply asleep. If they are tossing and turning they will likely catch you.

Its a long known bug that sleeping people spot you doing illegal stuff. Apparently they still haven't fixed it. So just keep that in mind and murder them or knock them out so that they don't spot you doing stuff. From what I remember if you murder them they won't spot you, but knocking them out is 50/50.

You can pickpocket sleeping people, but if they are facing you they will spot you every time even if they don't "wake up". They still have to be facing away and then its still a crapshoot.

Money is such a non issue in this game tho.
