The door to the hut is locked and a guard is standing next to it. The way to open it is by completing the pestilence quest and curing the villagers. After that you can ask them to let you see the prisoner. I have done that and they still won't unlock the door for me.
So I sneaked inside the hut. He is alive but I cannot interact with him to administer the cure. I'm able to kill him or knock him out and loot the letter he had though.
I take the letter to Sir Radzig and there is no option to show it to him anyway. So I'm stuck in the story.
Are some players not able to open the log text for a quest?
You can get the door unloacked before and after you finish the Pestilence quest, but you can only go into the prisoner area to talk to the prisoner after the cure. Talk to Melichar.
I've talked to Melichar after curing the villagers. He thanked me and I asked him to let me see the prisoner. He told he will go unlock the door now. Except he doesn't for some reason and the only way I can get inside is by lockpicking, which I did but there is no way to interact with the prisoner since the related quest "Questions and Answers" is listed as FAILED in the quest log. This is pretty much a game-breaking bug.
EDIT: patch 1.4.3 does not fix this issue... how disappointing..
The only way for now to bring the quest back is to load a pre 1.4 save. For me, that would mean more than 9 hours of side-quest progress lost.
I cannot believe how incompetent these developers are with their own game.
Also, as I already mentioned, if your save is from 1.4, that might be the cause why it failed. In that case you should reload a save from before Q&A started.
Already did that and, again, went straight to sir radzig and he had no dialogue option to show him the letter. Since any dialogue is tied to the related quest, it's gone because the quest has failed.
