Best historical books for the period and place?
Looking for the best history book or books for the time period and location of the game. I love history but I am not very familiar with the detailed history of the region. Also, makes me feel more immersed in the game. Thanks for any opinions

Mmm I dunno. I'd try search the topics of Sigismund of Luxembourg (Holy Roman Emperor) and Wenceslas IV.

Andrzej Sapkowski's (Author of the Witcher) Hussite trilogy (Narrenturm, Lux perpetua and Warriors of God)

Good reading.

Non-fiction though?

The time period is a little bit later but Warrior of God is supposed to be really good. It's about Jan Zizka and the Hussites fighting the Holy Roman Empire. Victor Verney is the author.

To be fair it's hard to find a non-fiction work that isn't biased these days, it seems everyone is pushing one agenda or another.

There is info in Czech which google can translate, like this -.

https://doupe.zive.cz/clanek/mapa-kingdom-come-deliverance-je-krasnym-prikladem-stredoveke-historie

Search for the village names -

edit - I read a book on historical werewolves etc written by a frenchman in the 1700's. Apparently there were a few cases of peasants killing people because they were werewolves in Bohemia. The Inquisition arrived shortly after the period in the game due to the Hussites..

You might have to find an author who isnt Czech or a European White Nationalist.

Many "historians" in Europe are ultra-nationalists and their writings about their homeland is mainly based on fantasy/alternate history.

These people are called Revisionists and should never, ever be considered real historians.

Slavic "historians" are a very good example. They're notorious for writing complete fictionalized historical events as facts.

Avoid anything written by a Czech about Bohemia. It will likely consist of 90% fantasy. 10% real facts.

Heck. The so called historical events in this game are borderline fiction. Close to being a Revisionist accounts rather than real facts stated plainly and truthfully.
So basically European history is lies and if you want the truth you have to ask non Europeans about Europe.

How long ago did you undergo a lobotomy? And how have you coped with the effetcs?

Thank you! This is good to know! I greatly enjoyed his witcher series. I just googled a bit,but unfortunately the trilogy doesn't seem to have an English translation yet.

This is sterling advice. Not only do you get to read the works by the author of highly immersive adventures, but you also find out more about the Hussite conflicts which were hugely influential in the changes to that were beginning to affect feudal society, leading to the Reformation and beyond.

I wonder if Henry will be involved in more of this in sequels to KCD...
