So should I get that or silent fiddler?

Depends on how often you intend to break lockpicks.
It happens a lot more often once you start to get access to the Very Hard locks... or maybe I'm just bad.
Well I just got sixth sense because I've only ever broken two picks and that was at the start of the game.

For anyone reading this, sixth sense amplifies the chatter of the people who are about to catch you in the act of lockpicking. "What was that?" and lines like that will be heard from the next room for example. This gives you a couple of seconds to stop picking before the nosy Alehouse wench bursts in on you.

Well I stopped lockpicking when I heard someone muttering, then he came in and accused me of stealing although I had long stopped. And it was not in a private area. Not much use as it is.

Tried again. I heard him muttering, I stopped lockpicking, turned around, waited about 5 seconds for him to open the door to the room I was in. He saw me, walked to me, stood there 1-2 seconds doing nothing, then he shouted "a thief" and the guards came towards me.
No private room, and when I was walking around in the room beforehand no one cared.

Conclusion: you just get more time to start running, but you are reconized to be doing something wrong anyway.

If you want a laugh: next time I heard him muttering I immediately ran away, not getting caught and he didn't shout or alert the guards. But when I walked back to him about 30 seconds later into his not-private room where I was allowed to walk around earlier he NOW suddenly shouted "thief" althought I had just entered and he had no way of knowing that I had been there before tempering with anything.
Pretty ridiculous stealth / stealing system.

There's a reason for this u can't just sit there and wait for them right in front of the ♥♥♥♥ u just stole/lock picked lol if u walk like 5 to 10 feet away from the area you will be fine tbh the 1st anwser was about to make me go for fiddler 1st (cus I'm getting both requardless eventually).. how ever now that I know I can hear their voice this will be a HUGE help I can't even count on both of our hands and toes how many times I was up a ladder in a barn or house or in a house that had 2 to 3 rooms separating the rooms we were in and I ran out to check(cus I'm paranoid) if someone was coming b4 stealing their stuff and sure as ♥♥♥♥ someone heard me and was on the way... See the thing is they follow YOU after u make the noise so if u walk away from what u just picked u have nothing to worry about but if u stand right in front of what u stole/picked what did u think was gonna happen? Seriously bro think about that u walk into a room and see me standing next to a box of your ♥♥♥♥ with the lock broken off after hearing what sounded like a lock being broken u just gonna walk away and say everything is fine no way the only guy standing in front of my broken lock broke that lock 3 seconds after hearing a lock break 3 seconds ago lol walk away next time bro you'll be fine the devs did really good on this game making it very realistic/interactive/and just... ALIVE like sometimes even just real life common sense is the answer to your problems
